The use of flares is generally triggered by the scoring of goals and moments of high drama in games.

    So we're safe as houses.

Perhaps we can have a safe flare area, right next to the safe standing area - with a safe smoke bomb area not far from that, for all the dolts that struggle to concentrate through 90 minutes of life.

One of the best atmospheres I can remember was our away victory at Chelsea. It seemed enjoyable enough without pitch invasions or pyrotechnics. Both are unnecessary.

Whether you regard it as bullshit or not is immaterial. You can call it anyway you want if you need to be a contrarian but it won't change the situation. In England, the use of flares and smoke bombs is illegal in enclosed areas at sports grounds whether you agree with it or not and irrespective of what other countries do. And until the ground regulations and the laws are changed, their use will thankfully remain illegal.

They are going to lure the Schooligans into the first 3 rows then throw the net over them.

How many flares have been used in a football grounds per injury sustained? I'd wager it's more dangerous going for a pint in The Sun Inn Shipley than being in a stand with 100 flares. It's a complete load of cack.

Embarassing, "but it adds to the atmosphere at games".

Hope this is seen by the club and that lot have to find something else to do on a Saturday afternoon.

That's deluded to think that you are attending 6 games a season and that makes you a top 1% supporter.

Supporting City is not a financial decision for many and never will be.

I have been a ST holder for over 20 years and will continue to pay whatever the going rate is.

I have been to over 80 different away grounds since 1979 and never considered that as a cost.

I just love supporting the club. Mad I know, but I do. Its my passion.

Sad the club has had to resort to this tactic but fairly inevitable.

A fine hits the club budget and if it means that we cannot recruit players, then those who behave in such a manner are adversely impacting on all of our experiences.

Good news about the banning orders for the idiots responsible for their involvement in flares. These idiots are not welcome as far as I am concerned

Only another 200 to go and we'll have the atmosphere in away games removed completely.

Took me fecking ages to wash the smoke out of my blanket after the Macc game.

Perhaps some of those who really get turned on by the excitement of flares, literally drool at the idea and find the football unsatisfying, could form a flare society. They could watch i-follow (save the expense and time of travel) invite like minded people round to their address and at moments of extreme boredom could let a flare off! Just think of the japes! As it would be in their own space, they could try and peer through the smoke to see the screen, or just roll around laughing thinking how cool they are (or because they are developing an extreme reaction to the smoke). In these days of home entertainment it could add a new dimension!

It's been on the cards for the last two seasons, it's good to see the ban hammer has come down. I hope they enjoy the atmosphere of not being able to attend a game now because I know I won't miss a moron setting of a pyro on a Saturday.

A quick Google will bring up countless cases of injuries (and at least one death - at a football match in the UK) caused by flares and smoke bombs. Plus there's a wealth of medical information on the effects of inhaling the smoke.

Of course, some people choose not to see the evidence.

Anyone who went to Leyton Orient this weekend and had to go through that check on the gate before you went into the ground which left many people queuing up outside after kick off can thank the No Pyro No Party crowd for everyone being treated as a potential suspect going forward.

Be interesting to see what effect it has. With police spotters and hi def cameras its lot easier to spot the culprits these days.
