That what folk need to realise unless it's a sheikh with money to burn then your more or less gonna get the same thing as we have.

As for Reynolds and co looking like they are throwing mass money at it I bet they've more or less got there money back with the media interest in them............... Let's see what happen should they rise up the league and the project starts costing them 10s of millions of pounds per season .................the documentary will no doubt be helping them along with the spending spree but that ain't gonna be enough the higher they rise up

The deal for the doc was an initial agreement of 2 seasons for £9m. After the first season ended, Disney were making an average of £430K per episode from the streaming numbers. Another report in May said that season one had made just over £7.8m for Disney, so by the time season 2 is done Disney will have made some big profit and we know Season 3 has already started filming so likely a bigger deal incoming. Plus their sponsorships with Tik Tok, United Airlines, they are making a killing from it.

If you've watched S2, the plan depends on the stadium development. They want to to get to the point where the club can kind of succeed on its own but they need the ground extensions otherwise the plan isn't really do-able.

Just read the whole thread start to finish. Some interesting ideas and thoughts, some really negativity about the club though which seems a little unfounded. I understand the aiming of dissatisfaction towards the owner, but to the club which isn't a sentient being seems off.

Firstly what the club does have is loyal fans. We also have players, no matter how good or bad you think they are every player is worth something unless out of contract. A couple of them (Lewis, Pointon to name a couple) will be worth a good wedge if sold on.

If someone came in and BOUGHT (sorry, someone kept saying Brought above and it was frying my brain) the club, the above is what they take into consideration. Just because we don't own the ground or a training ground doesn't mean the club has no assets. The fans are the asset. The club is self sustaining too, which means any prospective owner can come in and immediately invest on the pitch as opposed to coming in and paying debts. There won't be many clubs in the EFL which are completely debt free.

£10m doesn't seem outlandish to me.

Do we know if Gibb would sell VP back? If so how much would make him do it?

City are a great proposition for any would be owner, a sleeping giant so to speak.

That's how we have been described for the last 60 years or more, but for a stroke of good fortune around the turn of the century we are back to where we were when I first started watching City, but we live in hope 'cos that's all we have.....

It depends on your definition of 'mountains of debt'. Our club is not debt free despite what you and others say.. It has a loan of £1.7mill provided by one of Rupp's companies which was largely required to get us out of the hole created by Rahic. According to the club's last published accounts, the loan is still outstanding.

If somebody does buy the club, the loan will be repaid and reflected in the purchase price.

Definitely time to move on from Stefan.

I appreciate Rupp's effort at stability in the wake of Rahic's buffoonery, but the guy has never given the impression he wanted to be here for anything other than the sake of his investment, which I couldn't give two hoots about.

Let's just hope we get lucky with the next one, and it happens ASAP.

These past few years have been a very sad footnote in our on-pitch history, with next to nothing to celebrate. Enough is enough for the blokes who won't accept mediocrity but produce nothing but.

Colchester £31m at last count 2021, is Mt Everest of debt
    BCAFC £1.7m isn’t in comparison.

I don’t know what the status is now but Mansfield had the 4 th highest debt in the division followed by Notts County. ( That was 4 years ago. )

It would be interesting to know recent data though, interesting debate could ensue?

    Good post.

Although I'm not Rupps biggest fan more for the reason a man he trusted (poor judgment) has taken the cub backwards your correct I cant remember any time he said he would plough money into the club in fact the opposite Rahic made it quite clear he wanted to develop our own talent.
I would assume that was to sell on as in this day and age if you have a talent he's quickly gone to the big boys.
Unfortunately whilst he's still the owner he will get criticised when things don't turn out as expected by us fans, but during his time as owner we have been the constant at our club ever since the cheap ticket offer was made back in 2007 by Julian the fans have been ultra loyal IMO.

Contrary to what one or two think on here, fans who want Rupp out aren’t after a sugar daddy who will throw loads of money at it and outspend everyone. Although this has been explained on here many times so pointless going over and over it. As long as our budget is competitive in League 1 and 2 then the issues aren’t financial, that’s always been the case under our proud custodian.

Colchester would appear to be a basket case with that level of debt and I'm pleased they're not my club! I don't personally have a problem with clubs carrying some debt. It's debt which is an important part of a company's capital which enables it to grow and develop and football clubs are no different. The question for the company is whether the funding of the debt is sustainable.

In a debate on how much Rupp might want for the club, the outstanding debt is an important aspect. For other posters to then say we are debt free is wrong and misleading.

The argument for needing Rupp to sell up isn’t so much financial for me. I think he has given us competitive budgets. Its more his lack of visibility and presence, and lack of expertise to impart on the football side of things. Holding a manager accountable and putting pressure on them/supporting them, when needed. The current set up is too laissez faire.

we need a clear direction from the top, from a football man. With no DoF employed, the owner has to provide the things mentioned.
