I was looking at the "who's who" on the club's official website and noted that the north region scout is Ray Mathias. Does anyone know if he is the Tranmere legend who played 637 games for them?

    Yes I believe it is.
He was a scout with Bristol City so he looks to be doing that as his job atm.

I’ve just had a look and the three scouts on there are all different to the ones who were brought in by Derek Adams.
Was there an announcement when they left and these new ones came in?

I can't recall seeing any announcement, no idea who the other 2 are.

Writing here, because there's no transfer rumour thread anymore. So Andy Carroll went to Reading! Let's see how that goes for him, but I did have a chuckle to myself that we were all getting excited that he might be coming to us! Would love to know how that actual rumour started, and what ML meant by some news coming that would be "bigger than Hughes joining as manager" - if he even said it!

I'll be watching Carroll's Reading career with interest, because I like the lad and think he needs a break (not in that sense) after all the promise being ruined by injuries. Reading are up there in the automatics early doors. I didn't realise they are managed by Paul "the Guvnor" Ince. His son plays for them too. Carroll came on in the last mins of a 1-0 win vs Wigan.

It's his second spell at Reading so I'm assuming the club already had links and were potentially just waiting for him to prove his fitness and him possibly waiting to see what was on the table.

Seems a decent fit though. He'll get regular gametime and Reading (if he keeps fit) get a verve forward with PL ability.

The Summer 2022 transfer thread is still open https://bantamtalk.com/index.php?threads/summer-2022-transfer-talk.6118/ although, apart from a possible outgoing loan to a National League club, I think its finished as far as we're concerned.

He's a "lucky man". Will be "bitter sweet" for them if he gets injured though - especially if the "drugs don't work". Then his career will be "history".
