A club without a manager or an assistant manager; a club with a third of its current squad out of contract in a month's time; a club whose supporter base has fallen by almost a third; a club which might not even have a grassy surface to play on next season; a club who hasn't even unveiled its new shirt yet ( ;) )and you want others to forecast where we'll finish next season?

    Give over!

I actually don't want others to do anything. It's a choice thing.
I expected a professional like you to appreciate that.

Of course the issues you point out have yet to be resolved. However, what on earth is wrong with trying to gauge the apparent apathy hanging over the club ? You want to play - fine. If not, OK...... Bye :)

    Why not?

I'm forecasting a lower budget than last year,
I'm forecasting very a disappointing transfer window with most of our best out of contract players moving on and not being adequately replaced. I'm forecasting more doom and gloom as we struggle for results and I'm forecasting this trend will continue until either the Germans get bored and sell up or the fans completely turn their backs on the club and force them out.

How can I forecast this? Like anything else, you look back at the history and trends. It's really not rocket science to work out that we've seen absolutely nothing to suggest that the business plan will change significantly enough going forward.

Grayson says we don't have a realistic shot at promotion without a raised budget.

So unless that budget is raised, it would be foolish to expect anything other than midtable.

    Expecting more is not helpful.

    A concise response, Jon.
No theatricals, or dumbing down - purely right to the original point. Thank you.

An interesting debate. I've voted for 'Facing Relegation' based obviously on my thoughts today which I acknowledge could change dramatically come August.
How a team finishes a season is often a strong indicator of what lies ahead, eg Coventry of a couple of years ago and from January onwards our form has been distinctly relegation.
Sacking Stuart was the wrong decision in my view although I accept the counter arguments. What I am and have always been opposed to was the decision to appoint Grayson on a short term deal. That shouts out panic appointment to me with no long term plan. I never felt Grayson was committed to us and expected him to leave regardless.
So here we are in the close season, needing a major squad overhaul, with a limited budget, fan apathy and no manager in place.
I appreciate things could change very quickly with an inspiring managerial appointment and some exciting signings but right now I fear for us....
