Some lovely heat for my son and I tonight, whilst getting to learn the new team.

Beats that 4-0 Walsall game in 2018, Oldham away or the very coldest I recall, Hartlepool at home in the Leyland Daf Trophy back in the early 90s.

    I know which I prefer.

It’s because people have positioned fans and air con towards ground to cool them all down

well from what i can see, we've looked decent all over the park. dont think angols done that well but he hasnt done poorly either. he flapped it for that chance when it was him vs the last defender.

like the look of halliday, if he keeps fit we've got a solid right back who gets forward well there

I think there is your centre back pairing right there .. Crichlow is a lovely player and his passing so far immaculate! Platt hasn’t done anything wrong either.

Why are they playing Diamond as C/F??? Miles out of his rightful position and it shows.

Halliday fine home debut so far
Some nice one touch passing in the middle is great to watch.

Agree. Halliday the proper right back in "playing well at right back shocker"!

Smallwood and East both pass quicker/sharper and more often forwards than Watt did. There's a good buzz in the middle of the pitch now.

He's competent. He'll improve with games. He links well in attack and was in the penalty area a couple of times. Panics a bit with the ball and when under pressure at times. Perhaps not a fair comparison but Halliday showed him the level he needs to be as a full back.

Halliday, Crichlow, Platt and Foulds were a strong defensive line, often playing it out very neatly. Sunderland were easily contained in the first half, when they were on the pitch.

Crichlow looks behind the next line, which is the easy route for defenders - he was passing from the back line to the strikers along the floor, and I approve greatly of that!

He’s my first choice left back at the moment. If he starts the season at left back I’m happy, if we can improve then I’ll be even happier.
Ridehalgh has a challenge ahead of him

Yet for all that he will still get us 10-15 goals this season. To get anybody else in to do that will cost silly money unless we drop on a lucky loan from prem.

Not interested in the result but always good to win.

What has impressed me so far is that the club has got its planning right. Look Bowyer and Adams were dreadful managers for us but Hughes seems to understand what is required.

Playing Derby and Sunderland at home in a pre season will help massively get the new players use to playing at VP. Yes, we might not have 17k- 18k fans there but one of our failings over recent years is getting the players to perform at home because some of them are like a rabbit in a headlight.

If we get our home form right then we stand a chance. Seems like the lads are doing ok in pre season and building their fitness. It vital we get out of the blocks fast this time and pick up wins from the start.
