would have been ok when we had him on trial a few years back but apparently, his knees have gone completely.

Apologies its an awful image (better on zoom) but it does look he is preparing a scissor kick before the ball reaches the line. I agree it was over before he smashed it in for them but it seems he had an opportunity to do better seeing as the o donnell had taken much of the pace off

Thought we were quite good until they scored but from then until half time were clueless. Pointless sending long kicks to Donaldson when he is on his own with 2 or 3 defenders. Fortunately, we rectified the situation and regardless of what Curle said, Cobblers went home with what they deserved. we laugh at Curle but what about the interviewer? Reminded me of a number of years back when Ogden was interviewing Town manager Jackson and comparing 4th division Town with Cruyf's Ajax.

So the precedent set by this ref is, just grab hold of anyone on a yellow card, rag them around until they also grab your shirt, then they're off!

    Simple!

What an idiotic decision by a very poor official.

I thought it was clearly a Donaldson goal. This has nothing at all to do with choosing him as a scorer of a goal in the City fantasy league. Genuinely. I thought Donaldson scored.

By the refs logic every corner would result in 5-6 yellows, always plenty of shirt pulling on a set piece. There’d be no one left on the pitch. No excuse for this sort of ref, it’s not as if he gave any team an advantage until the red, but he was useless all round for both teams. Curle’s comments are laughable that Bowyer influenced the ref at half time, can’t remember him favouring us. If Klopp made a comment like that in the Prem he’d be fine £100k.

It wasn't in but was going in when Donaldson helped it on his way. Had he have been facing the other way he would more than likely cleared it. Not a lot he could do with it TBF.

I'm sure Bowyer has identified learnings from their goal, I don't think we need to pin the blame on Clayton - he did what he thought was best in the circumstances.

Didn't we used to put Darby on the post under Parky? Maybe a full back is better suited to it, but that's up to GB.

Agree Jon. Just watched the highlights back...their defender clearly tries to throw Zeli to one side, Zeli has hold of his shirt but is not aggressive or threatening at all whilst the Northampton defender clearly is. But Curle thinks they were hard done to by the ref in the second half because Bowyer was chipping in the refs ear at half time...couldn't make it up...

Question to all at the game today (or watched on iFollow): Do you think our players are theatrical and play actors to win refereeing decisions? Personally I don't think we are, not compared to other teams especially, but Northampton fans think we are..

"To be fair Bradford were very good second half, and we missed our two golden chances. I think KC's first two substitutions were good. Williams had played well but wasn't winning anything in the air so Oliver's physical presence seemed a good bet. It didn't work that well but it seemed a logical thing to do. I certainly didn't understand the last change because bringing on another defender just invited more pressure.

Having said all that part of Bradford's pressure was due to the fact that the ref was extremely lenient with Bradford's playacting (first half) and blatant fouls in central defence throughout the match - not a single foul was given against the defenders marking Williams and Oliver. I spotted at least 7. This makes a huge difference. Firstly it means you don't keep the ball in an attacking position, allowing the opposition to come straight back at you. Secondly, it means the defenders just keep fouling because they know they are going to get away with it."

But, in fairness to them, they are not big fans of Curle at all and do not like his tactics:

    "They’re down to 10.....

Our time wasting and defensive tactics came back to bite us on the arse!"

"And of course our manager will be out shortly to tell us how unlucky we just were and how our gameplan nearly worked.
That will make us all feel much better."

"Shocking tactics AGAIN by Curle, why take Williams off, why go 5 at the back, we got absolutely battered that 2nd half, Turnbull was outstanding as was Goode, I really don’t get changing the team so early.
One thing is for sure we will never get promoted with Curle as manager."

Apologies, just a bit bored at the moment so interested to see how they saw the game.

No question Donaldson was diving all over the shop first half, in which he was very poor, and Vaughan seemed to hit the deck a little bit easily on one or two occasions.

Goode and Turnbull were extremely physical, though, and I certainly don't see how they can say our defenders committed more fouls? There were two styles of defending on show, the MRE style, which admittedly involves out-muscling the striker before beating them in the air, then there's the Goode/Turnbull style which is more just launch yourself through the back of the striker and claim it's not a foul because you were in the air at the time.

As for taking Williams off, I thought he was baba, and Vadaine Oliver looked more of a handful. But they did get paggered second half, which seemed to be more about us increasing the tempo than Northampton retreating into their shells.
