Yes, far too pedestrian today with little urgency.

The tackle was a horror from what I saw. Completely off his feet, dived right in. Critchlow was visibly distraught and I felt the same so it will have affected the players. Sending off offence.

The culprit was subbed shortly afterwards in an attempt to cool things I'm guessing.

Donny were very compact and organised but they were maddeningly cynical and wasted time constantly courtesy of a poor ref.

Well that was a frustrating watch for me far too slow to move the ball, not enough fluidity or urgency. In truth they had the better chances. Sutton doesn't look fit! Thought Critchlow looked very good, Harrett looked lively and Lewis made a great save.

Doncaster were god awful all round they came to park the bus and waste time. For the amount of fans they brought they were dreadful. The tackle on Osadebe looked horrendous and a definate straight red. The whole Tomlin thing was the most bizarre thing screams of some kind of fix. If I was a betting regulator I'd be having a look at that. Unless he's completely lost his head why would he refuse to retreat, kick the ball away straight after being booked and then chuck himself on the floor like he'd been punched embarrassing really. As for Miller I'm glad he doesn't play for us.

I couldn't believe Donny continued to stick to their game plan right up to the last minute when they played those two short corners when it was clearly most likely the last passage of play of the game and with half the team on the pitch being 6ft defenders they still didn't go for the win by lobbing in a cross from the corner.... Came for the draw and celebrated at 90mins like they'd won the league

Got to say I thought their fans were piss poor other than the fact they turned up they didn't really create any kind of atmosphere. May have just been down to how the match started I guess.

I honestly don't see them being top 7. They were very organised defensively and did a good job on Oliver today. They are going to need much better than Miller and Tomlin up top. Tomlin looked like they'd stopped at a pub on the way and asked one of the regulars if they fancied a game so he downed his pint, scoffed his pie went in the toilets to get changed, borrowed some boots, jumped on the team bus and ate a few mars bars on the way!

It was two footed in the follow through. That's factual and not up for debate.

Here you go, pause it as many times as you want. I saw it in real time and nothing I've seen since has changed my mind, it was a clear a red card as you will ever see.

one of those where you go in to let him know and leave something on him. Over aggressive is a sending off. Tick. High tackle. Tick. Out of control. Tick. The intent might not to have hurt him badly but it has, and it was down to him. Bit like drunk or reckless driving

People on other forums don't sit in the block right in front of where it happened take it from me he raised his studs as he followed through. It was nasty and a straight red if his foot was on the floor how has he connected with his leg and not his foot? If we had a player of ours who did that I'd be saying the same thing.

So the momentum injured him. He was out of control because he tackled in a way that produced momentum that injured his opponent.

Nail head! Either reckless or intentional, if he’s in control then it’s intent, if it’s his momentum that he can’t control its reckless.
    Quite simple really!

    Think he was
Sorry Donny fans, totally missing the current laws (applied last season as well). Winning the ball is not the key criteria, endangering an opponent and not being in control of the challenge is what the referee should be assessing and today's toss pot f.... d it up

Bloody livid that a players season could be over after just 6 minutes due to a reckless and unesessary challenge

I will say that as a neutral party I do feel @Fordy117@Fordy117 pessimism is more likely closer to the truth than your optimism. Even if every signing and every departure were good decisions there has been too much player turnover IMHO. It's likely to take too long for the players to get used to each other so they operate as a unit, them adapt to what Hughes wants out of them and also for Hughes to really understand in practice how to get the best out of all the players. Suspect the first half of the season will be all over the place with the second half of the season being where you will see if you have the right players and if Hughes is the right person for the job. You might sneak a playoff position if it does work out but I would say there is a good chance that this season is more about getting the base right and then working out what changes are needed to make a real push for automatic promotion next season

I think it is about being objective!
As a City supporter, then my allegiance is clearly to City, but I balance that with trying to be fair.
As a match official, you should be able to make a balanced and dispassionate decision.
In my view the referee made a vey hasty decision, one which he may in hindsight regret.
You should have a full understanding of the situation, before making a far reaching decision.

Here's the FA Rules as stipulated in the FA Laws Of The Game:

    Law 12 -
    • Using excessive force is when a player exceeds the necessary use of force and endangers the safety of an opponent and must be sent off
Quite clearly, he HAS used excessive force and HAS endangered an opponent - hence the double leg break!!

    End of!!

"The majority", give over, it's a ridiculously shit tackle.

    upload_2022-7-31_0-15-15.png

Look how how high up Osadebe's leg he is, it's an absolute disgrace and the easiest red card you'll ever give.

Unless you're Bobby Madden, in which case, you just make up some nonsense rules to avoid making a big decision.

And if you hit him right below the knee, it's the definition of 'reckless'.

    Just an awful, shocking challenge.

It was the speed of the collision that probably caused the injury, so no surprise someone who gives it a cursory glance gets it wrong (ie, a fan of another team who saw it once on the highlights without zoom). But watching it in detail, it's a straight red, no question.

If the ref wanted to run the letter of the law he had umpteen chances to give their keeper a second yellow for time wasting...

An occasion which promised so much and delivered so little, to be remembered for time wasting antics on a scale I've not seen since the early days of watching European football.Paramount was that injury to Osadebe who was proving a really good asset for us. Recklessness which ruined the game, aided and abetted by the man in black who just couldn't find the right notes. We have to remain strong and dish it out to Barrow next Saturday. MH and the players need to use their frustrations from this week to motivate themselves for the challenge next. But all fans thoughts and best wishes are with Emmanuel right now and we wish him a speedy and successful recovery.

It was evident after about 25 minutes what we needed to change but due to the injury to Osadebe the only creative player on the bench was Chapman who to be fair couldn't get into the game when he came on due to the slow pace we were passing at. Badly needed a Vernam or a Periera and i'm not sure we have that player available. Possibly a look to bring a loan player in?
