We needed the urgency we had in the last 10 minutes earlier in the match

I do think Odasebe's injury affected the players a bit and they lost their way in the first half.

Do not underestimate mentally how much thst broken leg affects things. You are on a roll, then that happens. It sucks everything out, then the opp just slow it down. Don't be too quick to judge

He rushed the decision. Could he not have consulted the lino first?

    What a game!

    Crap result.

Doncaster came for a draw. Utterly cynical time wasting.

Drama so many Donny players ‘fall’ to the ground if anywhere near a City player. High board diving!!

Horrendous challenge on Osadebe! Reminiscent of Gray on Watson!

Ref far too quick to issue a yellow card, rather than review the true gravity of the situation.

City offered little threat on goal.

This was ‘trench warfare’ football. Lots of effort but little progress.

Our approach play largely ground to a halt on the edge of the box.

Mono plan. Get it out to Halliday/Ridehalgh who’s crosses were easy for the Donny centre backs to deal with.

Why not mix it up with channel balls or ‘over the top’.

    Far too predictable.

Tomlin. Said it before, but he is a busted flush.

Harratt, we left as the whistle blew so didn’t see the incident….but a straight red is a 3 match ban.

Attendance of 19,638 an all time record for the fourth tier. WE collectively are immense!

It amazes me how anyone can argue it was controlled and not reckless.

Well I finally got to sleep at 4am, still worth it though.
    some stand outs for me:
Crichlow - lower league Van Dijk and he has the skills to match his haircut
Platt - looked solid and had a good debut
Halliday - crossing was terrible all game. Deep, loopy balls that were easy for the keeper
Smallwood - dominated midfield and looked to control the game
Oliver - first half I thought he showed some great hold up play. Second half barely had a a sniff
Haratt - looked like someone who could actually make something happen up front. Not sure what happened at the end.

Overall I’m encouraged by what I saw! Oh and how Donny didn’t have at least 2 red cards for time wasting needs to be investigated by the FA. Keeper should have been booked at least 3 times

Early goals at home are the key to stopping teams come with the attitude of spoiling tactics, we need to start quickly and get the first goal.

Not sure about that. Osadebe was promising. I watched him in a good passage of play on the right wing before the incident. He looked threatening. I hypothesise that Doncaster targeted him, because he was very lively. However the consequences of this were totally out of control and lead to the devastating injury. The game then turned into a World War 1 style of trench warfare. Very very frustrating.

Anyone else just a bit giddy this morning? Or is it just me getting too excited "over 22 men kicking a ball around on the grass" as the wife puts it.

Cannot think the last time I was this excited looking forward to going to VP.

Doncaster were cynical to the max. And yes, you're right. If the ref Madden is trying to make a successful switch from Scottish League to EFL, he made a bloody poor start of it. The Ravenhill leg-breaker was an instant red card, bolted-on. He bottled it big time.

Regardless of the fans views it was a reckless two footed tackle that deserved punishing with a red card. That's why referees gets slaughtered when they cannot control a game or make obvious incorrect decisions. Todays ref booked the keeper for keeping hold of the ball after awarding a corner in the 88th minute when he had been time wasting since the 7th minute. MH said 3 referees came to VP last week to tell City that they were cracking down on time wasting.

There was no other tackle like that in the match. There definitely aren't 5 of those in every game.

Lots care Fordy mate. The club might not have done well football wise over the past 6 years but our attendances are something for us to be proud of, cheap tickets or not. Mr Hughes is correct in that the players need to rise to playing in front of such crowds and we need to make the stadium a place where away players fear to come.
The large crowds also keep us in the shop window , success on the field with average attendances of 17000 to 18000 will be noticed. When can you remember a season when our manager has been on the radio and in the national papers , like Mr Hughes. I was talking with a former CEO of the club last week, who told me there is interest in the club, promotion with good gates, might just persuade them to put in that bid and your wish of Rupp out , might just come true.

That was dull as dishwater. Created nothing. Yes we were in control but it was far too slow and safe. Not good enough. Bored rigid throughout. No width at all.

2 players end game with red cards and upcoming bans

They guy who does atrocious tackle gets yellow and no ban.

Why it's assumed as ref only gave a yellow this is right and can't be challenged or banned

Horrible tackle for the double break. Two red cards one for being a dick, one for handbags at the end, both get bans, double leg break “tackler” gets to play next week. That can’t be right can it? Like everyone, I thought the referee was pathetic. Completely awful decision to not send Ravenhill off, no control after that. I was wondering what you’d have to do to be sent off after that challenge, silly me, of course, all you needed to do was throw yourself to the floor in a manner akin to a clown in a circus.

Frustrating we couldn’t score, but a major injury like that is bound to effect the players.

Please, never let that referee back to VP again. In all seriousness, the worst one since the Gordon Watson double leg break against Town.
