Yep January 1988...was there. Brian Mitchell sent off and abandoned at 77 mins (approx). Went to the rearranged game in the March, 2 down only for City to pull it back around, with Zico equalising deep into stoppage time.
Going wild in celebrating, I thought I'd jumped on my mate to celebrate, instead, ah the local Wiltshire constabulary, whom wasn't overly impressed

Wimbledon at home (Odsal) back in the 85/86. This game mirrors this season's attempts to get the Scunny game on. The first attempt was called off before kick off due to (I think) a waterlogged pitch. The second attempt went ahead but was abandoned before half time due to the pitch flooding.
If I recall, this game was finally played after the 'official' season was over. I remember the game only for Bobby Campbell punching one of the Wimbledon players and getting away with it.

First one I saw was at home to Rochdale and abandoned at half time in 1970 due to dense fog. We were leading 1-0 but few saw the goal unless you were in the kop and we just heard a cheer. We lost the rearranged game 3-0. We had two away games abandoned in 1977 at Stockport and Swansea due to torrential rain. The Stockport one was funny as supporters of both clubs were then brawling on the pitch and just plastered in mud. We then had the famous Plymouth away game which was abandoned due to snow and extreme cold with us winning 1-0. When our players went to the ref to protest he collapsed with exposure. This game was when many City fans were stuck in Plymouth for days as the roads were blocked. Some didn’t get home till the Wednesday and it was a Saturday game. We lost the rearranged game 6-0. We had Wimbledon home abandoned at Odsal due to a downpour and of course the Crystal Palace one in our promotion year.

Wasn’t there a Johnstone paint game the other year, or maybe it didn’t even start. Abandoned due to the rain, total chaos as they didn’t have a plan in place to hand out tickets as people were entering or leaving

edit it was 15/16 against Barnsley and 5 minutes before kick off

Yeah, that's the one. 'Fash the Bash' as the tabloids labelled him.
As I remember it, they both went for the ball on the edge of the pitch in front on the main stand. They were both on the floor and someone took the throw and the play moved down the other end of the pitch, so the officials didn't see them. As they got up from tangling on the deck, I think Fash said something to Bobby and he just lamped him.
The funniest bit was seeing one of football's so called 'hard men' running after the ref clutching his noes which was streaming blood, whilst Bobby looked like butter wouldn't melt in his mouth.

I remember that Rochdale game. The fog was so thick and all you could see were ghostly figures occasionally appearing before the fog quickly swallowed them up. Arghh those were the days............

When I was a lad, I can remember the 1st game I saw abandoned.
It was at Home to Woolwich Arsenal on 13th Feb 1904. We were winning 1-0 at the time, but it was raining damn heavy and it was called off after 45 minutes.
    Others I can recall are:

Home V Workington in the FAC 16/1/1909 0-0 - 60 mins due to snow
Home V Newcastle 6/1/1912 0-0 - 51 mins due to snow and fading light
At Elland Road V Barnsley in FAC 18/3/1912 0-0 - 86 mins due to crowd disorder
Home V Middlesbrough 25/12/1912 1-0 - 84 mins due to rain and fading light
Away V Newcastle in the FAC 11/1/1913 0-1 due to snow and fading light
    Away V Blackburn 29/11/1919 2-1 - 75 mins due to Fog
Home V Portsmouth 10/1/1920 in the FAC 2-2 - 61 mins due to Waterlogged pitch
Home V New Brighton 11/12/1948 in the FAC 0-0 - 90 mins due to fading light. No extra time was permitted due to the light.
    Home V Derby County 23/2/1957 2-2 - 70 mins due to snow
    Home V Aldershot 23/12/1961 0-0 - 45 mins due to frost
    Away V Mansfield 26/12/1962 1-1 - 36 mins due to icy pitch
    Away V Barrow 23/11/1963 1-0 - 29 mins due to rain
    Home V Rochdale 10/1/1970 1-0 - 45 mins due to fog
    Away V Swansea 14/1/1977 0-1 - 57 mins due to rain andsleet
    Away V Stockport 18/2/1977 2-1 - 71 mins due to rain
    Away V Plymouth 18/2/1978 1-0 - 61 mins due to snow
    Home V Lincoln 11/5/1985 0-0 - 42 mins
    Home V Wimbledon 16/4/1986 0-1 - 32 mins due to rain
    Away V Swindon 16/1/1988 0-3 - 72 mins due to fog

Thanks to the Bradford City a Complete Record for those upto 1988. I am sure there will be others since.

For some odd reason we had this match (the rearranged game) on VHS at home when I was a kid, I just remember the case being the Swindon programme front and back.

It wasn't part of a collection, just that one! Anyone know if it was common for clubs to sell videos of individual matches back in the 80's?!

Actually Fash ran after the ref, who was down the other end of the pitch, complaining and pointing over to Bobby, who was looking anywhere but at the ref.
The ref just looked at Fash, who was having a tantrum, and waved him away. Meanwhile we're all chanting 'Bobby's gonna gecha'

Didn't start watching City till the September of that year.... Its what stuck in my head from a tale, I was told on a supporters coach, which has stuck. I know the chat was about the great Bobby, whom left as I started supporting City

I went to both games. When Swindon went 2-0 up, in the rearranged game, the Swindon fans started singing "5-0" at us (adding their 3 goals in the original abandoned game).

At the final whistle, with the score at 2-2, City fans responded by singing "5-2", to remind Swindon fans that despite all their goals over the two games, we were still leaving with a point.

Over the years, I have seen quite a few games where I felt we were robbed; this was definitely one the other way round.
