    One thing I'll say about Sparks is it's harder to run a business when the ship is in reverse. Mason had the big advantage of the club being on the up when he was in charge, which ultimately became untenable with the arrival of Rahic. Sparks has made mistakes and can come across all David Brent at times but has also made some good decisions along the way. We have a better infrastructure now in terms of staff than we did after he employed Derek Adams and the pitch is as good as we've had for as long as I can remember.

    He was originally a Post Office man as I recall, part time Secretary at Farsley C. Then Richmond to a shine when Scarborough played pre season so he went there then to VP with GR then Leeds with GR then EFL as CEO now with Wrexham as Consultant

    He's not maligned by anyone on this forum anymore as best I can tell.

    He's being realistically appraised, IMO. He's improved a lot of things, but hasn't been consistent on the footballing front - yet. Hopefully his future managerial appointments are tight, well-thought out moves.

    He could really do with shaking this victim complex that seems to surround him, though, no?

    It's an ugly look for someone who's actually doing all right at this moment in time.

    Partially agree Jon, however, whilst possibly frugal on playing budgets they built a war chest from such as Parachute Payments. Dave Baldwin told me they spent (as I recall) multi millions on a state of the art training facility, I think something of the order of £40 million but memory may be getting the better of me as it is some time ago. I know I gasped!.

    Baldwin's probably the best of the bunch, James Mason is somewhat similar to Sparks, Rhodes... well, he was more than a CEO to be fair, but probably the least popular of the bunch.

    Baldwin was ok but was obsessed with cost cutting which is why Lawn and Rhodes appointed him to keep the cost of running the club as cheap as possible. But. He was and is a good administrator and of course did most of it with no remuneration from the club
