Central defenders tend to do well in partnerships. Crichlow complemented Platt well but Platt has looked ordinary alongside Odusina and Songo'o. It's important we keep Crichlow because without him we look bang average at the back

 

Jones moved forward though and drove our team on, making up yards up the pitch. Both of our current two don’t burst forward.
I just dont see why you’d want to move a leading contender for POY so far to create two possible problems.

You are right. The bonus is he’s contracted to us, whereas a loanee is subject to the whim of the parent club. There is no suggestion that Romy has been recalled, but it’s a good insurance policy if he is.

 

He wouldn’t have signed for us if he was international level.

All the cliches again , highly rated , young and hungry , lots of interest from other clubs , i would bet no one has heard of him before .

 

Only problem being if he turns out any worse than Odusina, then we have two potential duds on our books for the next couple of years. Add to that Oliver and Jake Young (who seems to have dropped off a cliff), then it's an expensive squad of players not making the starting 11.

 

That’s the whole idea of a squad in L2 isn’t it? We cannot have 25 players on top end salaries. The longer contracts, with the possible exception of Smallwood , especially the younger players, will be lower per week. We ain’t Man City.

 

My worry is he turns out the be worse than Anthony O'Connor or Jason Gavin.

 

Both were better than Zesh Rehman.

It was close in Jason Gavins case though.

Not sure it's a raise but he was a truly terrible defender.

 

I would be fairly certain he is worse than AOC. He was nowhere near as bad as some liked to think. Obviously his time here is done, but I think he would work quite well in a Hughes team needing footballing CBs

 

Absolutely - AOC in my humble opinion better than Canavan or POC. Put his body on the line countless times to block shots and scored his fair share from set pieces. As ever, once a player has a lacklustre game or makes a couple of mistakes, this forum singles him out as the reason for all City's failings, and never let's up.
