    Look I was suspended once. Without boring you with too many details, money went missing at work police assumed an inside job and lazily arrested the 3 people that could have had something to do with it including me. 4 months later two of us were reinstated and one sacked. I had nothing to do with it and my employers knew it. They had no choice to suspend me however once the police decided on a scatter gun approach with little investigation.

    I know, therefore, what it's like to have the finger of suspicion pointing at you and it's not pleasant. Let's just say you get to know who your friends are. Even when the official investigation comes to an end it's not over. It damages you. I'm not the same person now. I distrust people and for a long time I was bitter about the whole process that allowed an innocent and up-standing person to go through all that.

    Example; Once we decided to go on a family holiday to the USA. American rules state you have to apply for a visa if you've been arrested even if you weren't charged. I had to travel to London to get a visa and incurred extra costs of around £500. When you get to the US you're questioned at border control - why are you travelling on a visa? They have a look that assumes guilt. It never goes away - you're forever tarnished.

    I don't want to comment on the current situation that has led some of you to condemn, speculate and snigger. My experience will hopefully lead some of you to reassess your attitudes. Suspension does not mean your guilty of anything and anyone in that position should have the same respect shown to them as anyone else.

    Because in employment law suspension is seen as a neutral act - it does not imply guilt. If an employee is accused of a serious act or offence they may be, and often are, suspended on full pay in order both to facilitate fair investigation and to protect all parties from accusations of witness coercion, tampering with evidence, harassment etc.
    If there is no case to answer or a not guilty verdict then the suspension is lifted. Although it is of course possible to be found not guilty of a criminal offence but still be disciplined/dismissed by the employer for gross misconduct or other breaches of the employer's disciplinary policy.

    You be also got to understand libel and defamation of character.

    Many people are aware of the allegation, but you'd be stupid to post it. If you were to post it, and that allegation was never proven (i.e. the player was never charged). Posting that allegation can be viewed as defamation as it could damage the reputation of the player. At this moment in time the player has a clean reputation, he's been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault, the details of such will only be made public if he's charged.

    This is why previous threads have been locked, not only to protect the site but to also protect anyone from getting themselves into trouble.

    There will still be many people on here that are unaware of the allegation. What you have to remember is that it is just that, it's an allegation, nothing is proven and, as far as I'm aware, charges are yet to be brought.

    From my understanding, he's been released on bail pending further enquiries. People need to be extremely careful about what they say on here though. You cannot compare it to Adam Johnson or Ched Evans, those were national headlines, everybody was talking about it.

    Comments on here will be read by the club and probably the player himself, if anything untoward is said, anything libellous, then that person and the site is open to getting sued.

    Might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the Cheerleaders don't usually turn up for the night games, so nothing sinister behind it I would imagine
