That would be the standard arrangement.

You implied that he left for free.

I'd say the burden of proof actually falls on you, first and foremost.

Did we pay it off in full? Did we pay it off at all?

We wouldn't have had to bust a gut to keep the fan's POTY matt kilgallon at the club this season. But for whatever reason, we let him go. Maybe the fans 'don't know football' because clearly we are better defensively now, without him. Imo it is just another symptom of the shambles that was our pre season and the general atmosphere hanging over the place. He's been in the game long enough to see what was happening. The silence is the problem, if there were good footballing or contractural reasons to part ways, then come out and say it. Explain why.

There isn’t such a thing as a standard arrangement.

The two sides will have sat down and discussed the options available and then come to an agreement. That could have been we paid him off in full, we paid him off in part, or they both just agreed to cancel his contract so he could move elsewhere.

I’ve never believed that any club would ever pay up a players contract in full as there is no benefit to the club at all. If you are paying them in full you may as well just keep them and leave them training with the kids till the deal runs out and this is why players will agree to either a part pay out or just a clean break as not playing for 12 months so close to end of his career could severely restrict his options at the end of the season.

So how do you know? Did Greg tell you? Did Collins tell you? There is only a three man cttm. You are so wrong about fans ‘hatred’ I tell you what I want to believe, I want to believe that our club which we all love is being run properly. Why on earth do you believe fans ‘hate’ Rahic? I believe you to be an honerable man, but for goodness sake look at the evidence. He must have known Collins was on his way barring a miraculous recovery, he must also have been in touch with Hopkin, so even if Collins was lying to the fans publicly on radio and uTube about Killa being a fantastic professional and the fact he was training really well, and was still part of his plans, he turns and says to a Edin he is not part of my plans and he can go. Why would Edin let a player go like Killa just to appease a manager who would not be at the club in the next few days?

    I would assume in full.

I see no reason to think otherwise.

What would the benefit to the club be? Why not just let him train with the kids? If Edin was holding a grudge because of the meal then ending his career would make more sense than allowing him to go elsewhere

Because he knew our next manager might want to play him?

Just like when we were in admin and we effectively needed people like Ashley Ward and Beni Carbine to write off huge amounts of money contracted to them by the club, the standard expectation is the club will pay what it is legally obliged to pay, ie, the full amount of money promised to the player and legally underwritten.

In those extreme cases, thankfully those players agreed to not receive the money owed.

If Kilgallon did that in order to play elsewhere, fair enough. But we shouldn't assume that's what he did. The assumption must be that we paid him out of his deal, surely.

    Bang on.

It makes no sense for Edin to listen to MC when quite clearly Collins was set to leave anyway.

Rahic let him go because he didn't want him at the club. Hopkin comes in, and Rahic can say 'I only do deals if the head coach agrees', yeah right.

There is a massive difference between those two positions. One was either take a cut or get nothing as the club would liquidate and the current one is if no deal is agreed why would the club agree to it?

What is the benefit for the club to pay him off in full?

Not with the level of supporter unrest and the sheer backing Killa had.

Killa was a big thorn in Edin's side, and fans wouldn't let it go to the point the clubs head coach had to explain himself to the press!

The only thing we know is that we will never find out what the agreement was.

I've implied nothing. I've asked the question because I don't know if he was paid off or not so I'm not in a position to prove anything either way.

Fine. So we can't assume we gained anything at all from letting Killa go, financially speaking.

So remind me again why Edin would let that happen when Collins said he was a top pro and a squad player and in his plans.... ?

The only sensible conclusion is Edin didn't want him.

You imply we saved thousands, @Petrov@Petrov.

Please explain how without the assumption Killa wrote off that money?

I am only guessing but worst case I reckon we have paid off his contract minus whatever Hamilton are paying him?

If he left by mutual consent and we didn't pay him off, then we will have saved thousands. I'm not saying that is what's happened because I don't know, anymore than you know that we did pay him off. You assume we did because you see no reason to think otherwise, I prefer to have some evidence before assuming something.

And we can not assume we didn’t gain financially.

And as I said above we don’t know, we will never know.
