The damning indictment of Sparks tenure is, that despite good numbers through the turnstiles and lots of new 'partners' we currently are no further forward on the pitch than when he took over. That despite numerous changes to management personnel. Not sure our fan base can take another failure.

 

General shit show from the CEO. Time for him to pack his bags and get out.

Can not even keep a caretaker manager

 

I suspect we’ve been turned down by a few managers and McDonald realising it’s going to take a while has had enough.

 

Or maybe, just maybe, when he said he didn't want the job long term and wanted to continue playing he meant it.

 

How anyone can sit there and defend the club on this is beyond me.

4 weeks later and a senior player who took over the caretaker role is now back solely as a player and a man who was sacked previously and over looked for the caretaker job this time, is now in fact caretaker?
I mean wtf is going on?

Sparks sacked Hughes with no clue what to do next , hoped his caretaker would get him out of the shit with the fans, like Trueman and Sellars did and that’s backfired and we are scrambling about looking for a manager.
We appointed Hughes with no real interview strategy last time as we found his email in our junk folder
Before that Adams was highlighted and picked by Sparks
This time who knows what the plan is all the while the club is going stale and we are back to the arse end of league 2 again.

I actually believe now that Sparks is in despair, he’s almost certainly been turned down by his choice and it’s just nonsense that they are taking their time to get the right man. This is Sparks lowest time in his CEO career.

 

Id love to know what the players must think of this. Its like a circus. Rolling up to training with no clue of what’s going on and now taking instructions from Trueman rather than McDonald. Its absolutely bizarre.

I think its unlikely, but not out of the question. Its clear that no manager worth their salt wants the role - and rumour has it that any with early interest soon withdraw after initial meetings with Brent Sparks. So I could see a situation whereby Trueman is given it till the end of the season. Then we're in a bad place, and January recruitment will be set up for failure. Cook is playing with an injury and if that gets worse, we have no goals in us. The extent and speed to which the rot really sets in on the playing front shouldn't be underestimated.

This false sense of comfort some take in our so called 'stability' is misguided. We're one bad season away from oblivion. And with our leadership, you can never rule it out.

My opinion would be:

Move Sparks to the commercial side, Baldwin in as CEO and recruit a director of football with good knowledge of the lower leagues similar to what Gillingham did with they got out of the mire last season. Oh and of course actually sign a manager.

Then the club will have more of a solid grounding and it gives Rupp time to find the right buyer on his terms.

 

That is the worrying thing. We seemed to have turned into a more professional business off the field but everything on the football side is a shower of shit no matter which manager has been in charge. We have gone through a number of 'good' appointments and also Trueman/Sellars. From what people have said we have had a decent budget and managers seemed to have been given free rein to bring in their own back room staff but it still doesn't happen. Why?

Time to shift Sparks either down/side or out and bring someone with some football knowledge in

Personally, I don't understand why Trueman wasnt appointed caretaker manager in the first place rather than giving it to a player who has never shown interest in taking it full time.

Very strange situation replacing one caretaker with another within a month.

Will Trueman be promoted to interim manager again because none of the applicants appeal to Sparks.

Trueman then gets the gig full time on the back of a good run

Embarrassing, I’m over 30 years old and can’t really remember us not being run by cowboys and clowns. I’ll leave you to decide which these are.
