I quite like the look of this young player, loads of development in him. Loads of enthusiasm which is always a good thing. Other more senior players will help get over the hump of not scoring they have had plenty of practice.

Alexander has had us pay a fee so I think he believes he can play along side Cook but seeing Jake Young come on I'd like to see that pairing up top, he got stuck in when brought on.

Looking like a very very good signing.

What's impressive is that as a youngster, arriving in January to a team struggling to get going - he's not been daunted at all. He seems to relish, welcome and appreciate playing in front of a demanding large crowd.

Early days but it shows that we have to see how the signings actually perform, before passing judgement.

I do agree with you but you said the same about Tulloch and Afoka after the Newport win!

I like Kavanaghs attitude though, he seems to have a bit about him and has the physical attributes to compete in the mens game.

Never saw anything at all in Afoka and Tulloch, totally out of their depth.

Goals aside, I think Kavanagh has a lot more about him and be interesting to see him develop with us.

In fairness Tulloch never had much of a chance and when he did, i.e. Newport, he was good.

Note, I'm judging Kavanagh after three matches against four different types of opposition and he's looked good against them all.

He's looked positive so far, interesting that Alexander mentioned he had to have a word with Kavanagh at half time yesterday about his lack of intensity in the 1st half. If he can get the mentality right and get rid of the bits of 'lazy' play that are probably picked up in academy football then we could have a very good player then it's down to if he get the chances and take them in front of goal. 2 different goals so far but both have promising in different ways. The goal on Tuesday was about reading the game and gambling at the back post whereas yesterdays was a good run followed by a good finish with the pressure on.

Very much like the lad so far. Also how many times have we come up against a top knot with a bit of swagger, it’s about time we had one of our own.

I never saw much in Afoka. Tulloch showed glimpses but no real consistency

Kavanagh has something about him. As someone said earlier, his attitude is right. He likes to be direct, and I feel like he has somewhat filled the role of the absent Walker in recent weeks.

His dad last played at VP for Cardiff in 2004 in a 1-0 defeat for City.

I asked what Kav brought to the game then a few minutes later he stook the ball in the back of the net.

Great example of the difference at this level of composure and talent combining to win a game. Odours look up and pass to the excellent run and the cool finish from Kavanagh. Two players who look like they can make a difference though consistency will be the key to their ultimate success.

Mate of mine who is a Boro ticket holder and is an amateur ref up there recons he is a real prospect and will play in the prem eventually.

He had trials at Arsenal and Chelsea as a 16 year old before signing with Boro. He was a winger when they signed him who has eventually made his way up top.

If someone has signed permanently at this level and at his age from the Champ, tells you that he's missing something that Boro think he might not make it to their level. But we've seen it time and again in recent years of players who end up in L1/2 and are in the prem eventually. Might be a mentality thing with Kavanagh? As someone else has said, GA has had words about his intensity and press already. Might just need a situation to get all the pieces to land in place.
