    It is all awful for both club, but the EFL needs to adhere to the timeline they have given both clubs. Currently both clubs cannot pay their employees, cannot take part in football matches in the league. If we don’t have two lots of prospective buyers in situ and ready to go, it s the end. They will have to start again, sadly.

    I hope not but think it's curtains for them
    Hope the EFL have learned something from this

    The never said there would be a statement at 5. If the deadline for paperwork etc was 5 it could till tomorrow before there is anything

    Peterborough chairman on talksport just now saying he knows there is a buyer with the funds that wants to buy Bury. Why are they only coming forward now when the deadline has passed then?

    Probably because they've tried talking to Dale, who is still holding out for a pot of cash, so they've gone direct to the EFL with proof of funds.

    Sadly, it looks very likely that the EFL will confirm that Bury have been expelled from the League (whilst the 14 day clock will be started for Bolton).

    There is no single culprit responsible for the mess these two clubs have got into and, no doubt, more clubs will follow. However, if the EFL want to know who the main culprit is, they only need to look in the mirror.

    It's what happens when a prospective buyer doesn't want to pay what the seller expects and it becomes a matter of chicken.

    I seem to recall a club which several years ago was on the verge of being liquidated having passed a series of deadlines for prospective buyers to come forward with their offers. At the 11th hour (apparently 55 mins before the liquidation was due to take effect and after which there is no turning back and the fire sale would start) a buyer who had been instrumental in placing the club in administration came forward with a knock-down offer which was accepted by the liquidator. Imo it was the buyer's own version of chicken. And the club survived and the club's creditors were royally stuffed! Years later that same person was lauded as being the saviour of the club with that phase in the club's history long forgotten by some fans.

    They can form a new club. That's not hard to do and honestly might be best for them considering the state of what the currently club is meant to be in.

    Because maybe the current owner was wanting silly money.

    I can afford to buy your house outright but if you wanted silly money for it I wouldn't.

    The current owner brought the club for £1 so why should any potential owner pay the money he is wanting and also cover the 2.7m debt?

    The current owner blames everyone else for the problems they are in but he bought the club (and its debts) and clearly didn't do any due proper diligence and even recently admitted he didn't even know where Bury was or that it had a football team.

    How the hell did the EFL let him buy the club?

    Means nothing that.

    They were 4 bids on Friday. So seems like the owner looked at the best one for him because I always questioned if C & N could really afford Bury.

    So now 3 things:

    ELF end this because it's becoming a joke really for Div 1 & football.
    Does the current owner accept a low deal that might not suit or benefit him.
    If the ELF, owner accept the deal will the new potential buyers have the funds.

    Think the ELF will make a stand as this has been dragging.
