How would the EFL take over? Just assume ownership of all the assets including the ground? I'm all for more control from the league but they are in a no win situation. Imagine it gets to Christmas and we are pushing for promotion and the league steps in and says, sorry you are over spent, send all your loans back now, no signings and you have to sell some players as you are over spent.

I appreciate clubs are to a large extent privately owned businesses but they subscribe to the league to do business. That in my eyes makes them franchises of the EFL. So the EFL should be doing more to ensure these franchises meet the requirements set by their own rules. Not waiting until it goes tits up and slapping a punitive 12 point deduction. Too little too lateStop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...Bronco likes this. -
I've just been reading about the Bury Debacle on the BBC sport page and noticed that the EFL have confirmed that if Bury are expelled from the football league, then only 3 teams shall be relegated from league 1. So at the top end of league 2, one would assume that 4 teams would still be promoted (taking the place of the 3 relegated clubs, plus Bury), with 2 teams being relegated from league 2. But, the following season, who would replace Bury's spot in league 2? Would an additional spot for promotion be up for grabs from the national league? There would also be a knock on effect down the football pyramid....
League one this season is a laughing stock, and essentially there are now only 2 relegation spots from that league, being as Bolton start on -12, and are a basket case, and Bury similar.
If the same scenario had happened last season, Bradford city may not have been in league 2 (i am aware we finished bottom thus would still have been relegated third bottom) as the results against bury and Bolton may have resulted in wins and given us the points to survive....Interested Bystander likes this. -

So it goes back to 1962 and Accrington. Well that makes sense and as I said, not in my lifetime
Of course it would only be us they beat away. Like think it was our part of trying to support their cause, ha.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...Bigrod likes this. -
Skyebantam Impact SubP.L.22/23 Entrant
Town of my birth, my old man had trials there when he was younger and played for their youth team a few times. He used to go and watch them with his older brother, though he was an Everton fan at heart, Bury was their local team. Other than that, I personally have no direct affinity to them but as a fellow football supporter, for the sake of their fans, first and foremost, I do hope they can be saved from expulsion from the football league. It’s a sobering reminder of how close many clubs are, financially, to the precipice.

Bolton: ‘If a successful conclusion to a sale is not found or there are no credible plans for the Club to continue the season in administration by the planned Board meeting at 5pm on Tuesday 27 August 2019, then the EFL Board will consider lifting the suspension on the Notice of Withdrawal of the Club's membership of the League which was issued when the Club entered into administration in May 2019. https://www.efl.com/news/2019/august/efl-statement-bolton-wanderers2/
Bury: ‘The EFL Board, however, remains firmly of the view that the League cannot be in a position whereby any more of the Club’s 2019/20 fixtures will be suspended due to the integrity of the competition, the impact on other clubs in the League and therefore has stated that matters must be concluded by 5pm on Tuesday 27 August 2019.
If in the event a successful outcome is not achieved by this point, then Bury FC’s share in the EFL will be withdrawn and its membership in the League will come to an end’. https://www.efl.com/news/2019/august/efl-statement-bury-fc2/Fordy117 likes this. -

Fans don't demand clubs go out an buy Messi. Fans want to upgrade on weakness which I don't see anything wrong with.
Football is a little bit like a closed book. For me the serious owners want to come in improve things on and off the pitch the problem is when owners are just looking on the pitch for development.
Liverpool for example spend 4m the summer and are champions of Europe but looking to expand Anfield which will cost about 100m
Man City owners came in invested in the training ground etc.
Point is it's not the fans fault. If a manager buys rubbish he will end up buying twice. Fans will always demand players but owners should really be looking to build or create assets.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...Bronco likes this. -

Sales for Saturday's game have now stopped and game is in doubt.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...Storck likes this. -
Just to add.
With Bury last week it was only agreed. Nothing was signed. No sale has gone through.
The interested party still have to look at the books which normally they would have around 21 days but have until today and they have to prove they have the funds to cover the debt (2.7m roughly)
The stopping of selling tickets for the game on Saturday isn't a good sign.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...Storck likes this. -
