I wouldn't mind seeing what hopkin could do with Patrick, one of the things omari has got that were lacking a bit in this team is genuine pace probably not got the best ability but a better option than brunker was

Do we though? I can't say over these past few weeks that I've thought 'it's all well and good banging these goals in left right and centre, but what we are really missing is a big striker!'

 

Yeah I agree. If we can bring in a player who offers that threat AND can play in the system we currently have, then great.

 

Its not unusual for an employer to suspend an employee when they are under a serious external investigation. In fact it's often quite a debate between what the legal position is versus the moral position/obligation. It's not only the impact on the individual that is considered but also the impact on other employees

 

Can't believe I'm saying this - and to be clear, I'm not saying I rate him - but I wonder whether Hopkin thinks he can make something of Patrick. He's obviously a coach who believes he can improve players, especially young players. We've seen how much Miller has improved in a few weeks with Hopkin and McElhone.

With Patrick, he has obvious limitations - technically he looks poor. But he has pace and has shown a bit of finishing ability. If he could be coached to be more direct - copying Miller's high intensity style, using his pace to try and get in behind and run the channels, he could be a player. He'll have to adapt his game, work harder and buy into Hopkins vision. But who knows.

 

I doubt Hopkin will have seen much of Patrick other than videos, the lad’s only just come back from Somerset. Unless he has a dramatic upturn in the second half of the season he’s gone in the summer.

 

When you say we miss a big striker what do you mean? Do you want someone with just height as an attribute??

 

You don’t need to be tall to score with your head.. this is a complete myth. You can score with your head by using movement and intelligent thinking.. this whole thing of we need someone tall is a complete fallacy.

We need someone who can hold the ball up, bring others into play and compliment what we already have. If we bring a forward in that’s just a beanpole and can’t do anything apart from win aimless flick ons then I for one will not be happy..

We’re at the minute playing some of the best football we have witnessed for decades. This does not have to change, what it needs is to be enhanced!

People need to get out of this mindset of needing a lump upfront. It’s outdated and god awful to watch!

 

Someone like mcnulty would thrive in this team at the moment
