Surely, as head of recruitment, Abbo is fully responsible for the poor signings over the last couple of years.
That said, not sure what Abbo's role is now, but it's about time Hopkin was allowed to bring in his own team.

Failing to beat a poor Bristol Rov side yesterday convinced me more than ever that league 2 beckons next spring.

Unfortunately for Hopkin, it needs a managerial miracle to keep this squad in touch with 20th place by the time the transfer window opens in January.

Of the teams we have played this season i'd say Bristol have the most limitations in terms of squad and player budget, they were workmanlike but nothing else and judging by what i saw will be lucky to finish anywhere near half way. That said, i know some Bristol fans who said the same about us and they are correct in that assessment. Hopkin has been left an almost insurmountable task due to sheer bloody incompetence from Rahic and Rupp. Rahic needs to go to Waterstones and pick the Dummies guide to running a football club, should look for the Dummies guide to football player recruitment while he is at it, him and Abbott can get cosy on the couch while reading it together.

I was given to believe it was his brief to identify players needed unrealistic targets or not and then report to Edin who would say yes or no even the positive leaves a long way to go as its then up to the selling club and players to accept the reported peanuts we are paying (Keefer Moore)
I am no fan of Gregg and think he should have shown solidarity and left with Stuart but also think he is on a hiding to nothing
Hopkin does indeed need a miracle we could well be cut adrift by January and then we will hear "let's not bother this window and build a side in the summer to get us out of L2"
    I Hope Not !!!!!!!!!!!!

Exactly my point but because I mentioned "Edin" it then becomes invalid.

It would be amusing if he wasn't so serious. There is a weird admiration for someone looking for positives in a sea of shite but to do this at the point of ignoring the fact we are sinking quicker than the bloody titanic is quite frankly ludicrous. A defeat or two in the next couple of games and we will be cut adrift, we're already seeing a bit of a gap opening up at this stage. But hey. at least we aren't bottom. Or 23rd. So could be worse...

Are you sure? I read an article stating he had put millions in and finished the ground for them.

Only putting money back in from player sales, I am led to believe.

Is going to Waterstones a euphemism for fecking right off to the far side of feck and then fecking off a bit more?

Without denying we have major problems there were positives from yesterday’s match. We had by far the best player on the pitch who is getting fitter and better by the match.
We kept a clean sheet and defended well at times and their were signs that we are looking more like a team than a set of individuals. We are doing of the ball stuff well now closing g down pressing and tracking back. Looking far fitter and we are finishing stronger every game now. We really need someone to hold the ball up and a midfielder who can show a bit of vision but with only a modicum of luck we could have had a few more points now. And as Hopkin said post match what is the point of concentrating on negatives.

Charlton had 17 out for a large part of last season, including the likes of Marshall, Homes and Clarke all far better than we have. Nowhere near 11 of the players we have out will be in the starting 11, maybe 2 the rest are crap. It's an excuse, but reading your previous comments that doesn't surprise me.

Bristol Rovers were very poor yesterday with a defence that looks as bad as ours, yet they go away with a point and a clean sheet. Yes we should have won and yes, it was a penalty and should have been a sending off, but had we won it would’ve just papered over the cracks for a few days. We are awful. Our defence are incapable of playing a sensible pass out of defence, midfield work hard but are constantly trying to mop up long punts up to 2 players up front with very little physical presence. I like Miller, he’s got some promise but he’s no target man and Doyle just looks like a lost sheep. Feel sorry for him as the tactics just don’t work for him. We’re so blatantly needing a target man as Miller or Doyle would look much better next to one. If anyone mentions Bruekner my head will start spinning and I will dissolve into dust at the sheer stupidity of him being mentioned as a footballer

Exactly, if we had any key players out it would be one thing - but they're the same standard as those already playing.

The key player seems to be the keeper.

We'd miss him terribly. The rest? Not so much.

I think Wright and Possibly Akpan will do much better under Hopkin. There were brief signs of it at Blackpool with Wright before his injury

That's based more on hope than certainty, right, Park?

Akpan was wimping out of challenges last time I saw him, and looked well into the losing habit - no surprise for a player relegated twice in two seasons. If he makes it three in a row, it'll be Macclesfield Town for the lad.

Don't get your points, but thanks for an amusing post

But let's clarify somethings and I'll number them for you, so you can consider each one in isolation

    1. There is no "anti-McCall" agenda with me. It seems that we're not allowed to remind posters that the footie, under him at home last season wasn't that great at times (and I actually used to defend him as we got results) when they're busy refusing to give much credit for a half decent second half yesterday.
    2. In my question to Bronco - he brought up Rahic, which was totally irrelevant
    3. I was asking a question comparing the football quality of some matches under McCall last season to the second half yesterday. When you have some fans saying we're currently playing the worst footie for 10 years, you either agree or argue the point or don't bother been on a forum.
    4. I chose the middle one and then gave my opinion selecting (arguably) the best spell, during that 10 years - where we can all recall up to seven matches under Stuart that were worse than yesterday's second half.
The fact you sarcastically cite the times when I got something wrong, which I've openly admitted more than once - does my job for me. Namely, that it seems that certain posters will never yield when a scenario is put to them, that blatantly destroys their argument. Hilariously they'll avoid the question and fire back with their own irrelevant counter argument, just like the best politicians around do
