It's ironic that as you say a Brexiter is asking the PM to do what he and most Brexiters didn't want, to bring cheap foreign labour into the country.
In area's where labour markets have a shortage allow controlled numbers into the country on work permits, Germany did it for years with Turkish labour but not open borders or free movement and certainly not at the expense of driving wages down, the farmers will tell us that the price of the product will have to increase, that's always been the case.
If Boris allows unlimited numbers in he'll be accused of trying to get a low wage economy, he says its up to business to get their own house in order, if HGV wages are poor for anti social hours etc then pay wages that will attract the right people.

Brexit has had a massive impact on HGV drivers. Reasons why...
1. a massive load of them left to back to the eu
2. we didnt train enough of our own to replace them. If we transitioned properly instead of in the middle of a pandemic maybe we could have had those people in place.
3. we cant get the people over from the EU to work here now we need them. The number one reason is the mess of red tape and need for a passport which not many EU HGV drivers have. So they take up work in the EU where their own shortages mean the jobs available are more attractive than they are here.
Brexit is to blame for both the loss of HGV drivers and the fact we cant get them to come back.
You say we can train our own people to do jobs that the unemployed of europe were doing. Why? why should we train our people to be fruit pickers, or any low skilled job for that matter. We should be pushing our population into vocational work and further education in order to actually create a high skilled workforce with a high productivity.
The tide has finally turned and its been very enjoyable watching you bleat about brexit, clutching at those final straws with statements like its still 51 to 49. People like you will always be brexiteers and thats fine but you will be the 1 in 10 you were before the BBC gave the minority view of leaving the eu parity with the majority view of remaining. Thats the same BBC that you hate which without would have not won the referendum.
Brexit is crumbling the UK, we are an embarrassment and its making people poorer. Any benefits you think will happen are just hopes, theres no solid evidence they will come. A true patriot wouldn't let his/her ideals get in the way of something which is actually harmful to the country.Edinmiarse likes this. -
BBC bosses have at last recognised what many have said about the BBC having an anti Brexit and the right to its reporting and news programmes, They are now organising courses in fairness and balance for its broadcast staff, I suppose better late than never although some should be sacked they have had that many warnings of unfairness that seem simply ignored
