Yep. One of the nurserys is doing well and the other started well but is going down hill rapidly since it was taken over by a larger chain.

Closed, sold, planning put in for change of use. Apparently the money to buy it was raised in a month from donations.

Wow ,is that right. Living near the bottom of Kings Rd then High House some of those were my locals, plus the Malt Kiln and the mates at work “ lived” in the 7 Stars and Roebuck, so visited them often!

So true use them or lose them, was on Southfield Lane today now the Fire Brigade is closed along with The Wheatsheaf and the Southfield Hotel 3 pubs within 50 yards of each other and on a Friday night they were rammed, fall out of one and fall into another.

Kevin1954, the Malt Kiln shut its doors around a fortnight ago, and there's now a sign up saying "To let. Do you want to run this pub?". I mainly frequented the Robin Hood in my 20's & 30's, but that's now an ironmongers shop.

Black sheep isn't what it used to be, it seems to have become more of a dirty bitter than it used, perhaps my taste buds have been changed by Boltmeker. Saltaire Blonde is excellent, if a bit too citrus. The best blonde for me is Ossett. They do a nice bitter too, Butterley.

Rose & Crown on Westgate. Tetleys, and a nice pint of it, at £2.80

My time in the Robin was from 70's through to early 90's. Played for the football team and the darts & doms teams & was treasurer of the social club for a time. Great pub, particularly when Brian Hoddy, and later a scottish guy called Gus ran it.

Blimey, some right pubs there, sad to see them go, had my first drink in the Fire Brigade, also a lot of time spent in The White Horse up Great Horton Road, then moved to Undercliffe and was almost a permanent fixture in the Hare & Hounds/Malt Kiln, also spent hours in the

Used to go to the Smiling Mule with father in law to be but then him and friends moved pubs after Steve, landlord at Mule, passed away.

Growing up on Fagley, the Smiling Mule was one of the nearer pubs. Never went in the Blue Pig though. And the pub between Leeds Road and Intake Riad (was it the Royal?) was horrible.

On the opposite side of things, despite having been shut for over a year and looking likely to have seen it's last days as a pub, the Red Lion at Four Lane Ends has recently re-opened. As a pub !

Living this side of Bradford, we used to have probably lost more than anywhere else - Shoulder of Mutton, Girlington, Craven Hieffer, Royal, Reservoir, Queens, Brownroyd, Prince of Wales, Old Kings Head, Druids, Travellers, Kings Head, Turf, Delvers, Jack & Jill, Chellow Grange. Our side of the city centre has fared worse with us loosing Lower & Upper Globes, Woolpack, Melbourne, The City, New Beehive, The Office, Lancaster, Haighies, Diplomat and more that I can't remember.

Only the Fleece and Hope still open in Allerton, none left in Heaton. I don't think there is a pub left between The Rose & Crown on Westgate and The Hare & Hounds on Haworth Road.

It used to be great crawl starting at the Royal in Girlington working down Whetley Hill (Upper Globe, Woolpack, Melbourne (I was in there when David Narey scored that wonder goal v Brazil in 1982 WC), Rose & Crown, the pub behind the Beehive that I can never remember the name of, The Harp, The Sun, Diplomat, Lord Clyde, without ever deviating from Tetleys Houses.

On the Tetley pub hunt, you could pretty much get a tee-shirt on that run alone.

The Washington was the odd-shaped pub behind the Beehive.
