Loved the bit when nurse Julie was asked what outsiders would think of Bradford... A shit hole!!!

She has a point but it's our shit hole.

On a real point, the troubles of some of our residents from health to finance, was a tough watch

I watched it earlier. It is a hard watch. Unfortunately it is not a surprise to me, I have seen it many times. Our fellow citizens living in squalor and loneliness and very poor health. The nursing staff are absolute hero’s and the Police.

It’s when fellow Bradfordians poor scorn on our city, now that really hurts it just feels like literally nobody cares for the City. I know why they do it, it is to cover the shame they feel. We have nothing to feel shame or guilt, but anger yes. The politicians need to do much better. What did alarm me was when she said the more well off areas will have to do with less so it can be targeted at the inner city. Great then we will have poor health care everywhere!

They do need to make a special case for the City of Bradford. All shades of politicians have let this city down badly.
I will watch the rest of it.

If you go back through the history of Bradford it was in decline before the second world war, the growth of the industrial revolution starting to wane. To be fair that was no different to a lot of other towns and cities, there wasnt much difference between Leeds and Bradford come the 80s. unfortunately Bradford had nowhere to go and Leeds did. No amount of money or capital of culture schemes will change around central Bradford. It is what it is, a dumping ground for waifs and strays.

I tend to agree with you to a point. I just think there has been an enormous lack of political leadership with a small p. It can be revived it requires a ruthless focus on investment. This hang dog attitude of we can’t do anything because the government keeping making us cutback. Start talking to industry etc there is money for levelling up. Speak to architects about what do with all the empty factories. They make me cross, it is their job to lead Bradford, stop whinging and get on with the job.
