I don't understand why we can't play it on the deck when Cook does play. It's bonkers that the default setting this season seems to be to hoof it up to him when that wasn't how he ended up being the league's top scorer last year.

He's not a very good hold up player, very rarely looks to pop it off.
More likely to try and get into a shooting position or take on his man.

    I agree.
Play football for yourself your bound to score loads of goals.
The amount of times though he could have passed and hasn't that have led to him either missing or losing the ball is too much imo.
He constantly berates his team mates and is a miserable git when he scores.
The TEAM plays better without him.
A player with the mobility of Smith with more confidence and attitude is what we need.

Agree but I can’t see Smith getting the role . Jake Young and Kavanagh would be my front , both have pace and better attributes, and don’t get knocked off the ball as easy as Smith?

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying he isn’t trying , far from it. There is absolutely no reason for his confidence to be shot whatsoever . He’s getting plenty of game time , say compared to Bobby, yet Bobby had a blinder. Hats off to him. Smith has reached his ceiling imho.

I believe at times its because we fail to do the positive possession football stuff for whatever reason, the opposition high press, lack of ability, frustration weve seen it all.

We can debate the Cook situation till the cows come home, without doubt defenders don't like pace or a technically gifted player unfortunately at our level you rarely get a player with both.
I'd argue defenders also don't like a lad who who can stick the ball in the net on a regular basis, and for all the negatives that can be laid at Cooks door he does exactly that, how many times have we heard stop Cook and you stop Bradford City a bit of a back handed complement.
I don't see why as a team we can't combine both in the same team, unfortunately with regards Bradford City if things are going well in the first few minutes players take that easy option, it was far from a matter just of hitting it long under Hughes, it was a massive surprise to most why after getting us into a play off semi final he ripped the blue print up and took a completely different route.

He has his place for sure as I said earlier Dave, mindful he’s not the complete answer on his own.

Whether it matters or not is another question in light of his output but I agree his onfield attitude is apalling. His lack of encouragement to team mates and his constant chipping away at team mates along with his disinterest in celebrating goals that he's not been involved in really irritate me.

Are you telling me that Smith is a better hold up player than Cook?

If not, I don't understand the point.
