Really good passing between Pointon, Walker, Richards there for that build up.

 

Brilliant goal. Remarkable how shooting can get you goals. Why have we not been trying it in the last 5 or 6 games?

 

I don't think it's impossible. He should have had a hat trick today. He just wasn't confident enough or good enough to score any but he gets in the right places but doesn't score enough.

 

Well an entertaining match that's for sure Smith looked on to me and he was unlucky with their keeper making a save i dont think he knew much about. Its amazing what a goal and a bit of confidence can do for a team we looked relaxed and moved the ball well after that! Bobby deserved the man of the match for me but I thought Kavanagh had a very eye catching game.

Infuriating though how do we go from the last 4 games to today.

 

We will definitely have a moment between now and the end of the season where the play offs start looking like a distinct possibility. We will beat Grimsby and Gillingham to set up an exciting but ultimately disappointing end to the season is my bet.

 

I was watching on ifollow amd watched the replay. He got in fron of the defender close to him when the initial shot went but the defender in the centre looked to be a few paces back and playing him on.

 

Common sense at last, however he’s a step up from Wright on that performance. We wouldn’t get the same mobility up front if Cook had played …..Sorry folks .

The only squid was Smith …awful.

 

He could have stopped the poor fouls (8?) on Kavanagh . If he’d have booked the first two. Otherwise Smallwoods wasn’t a booking , he got the ball then collided with their msn. The two gat should have got booked by following through on keeper Walker in the first half.

 

As an aside there was a remarkable similarity between this match and forest green.

Forest Green scored with a header after 40odd seconds. Tranmere had almost the exact same corner and the lad headed wide.

Our defence hasn't been the strongest in the last 5 or 6 games. We seem to have loads of men in the box but the oppo always seem to win a header. Lucketti needs to get them working harder on the training ground.

 

Reading the Tranmere forum, they've also pointed out Pointon as the best player on the pitch, said our pitch didn't work for their winger Apter, they're glad they pulled clear of relegation, but need serious improvements next season.

Interestingly they moan they're sick of gifting points to the most off-form teams

 

I quite enjoyed the game yesterday.

We played some decent football at times.

GA is in a position now where he has six games to really look at some of the players that he has under contract for next season.

I'm not convinced by Tyler Smith yet, but I would give him a run now. If he can get some confidence/luck then there could be a player there.

Richards, Pointon, Kavanagh should all be playing most of the minutes for the rest of the season. I would like Adam Wilson also given a chance.

This season has been a huge disappointment, but it would be good for the season to finish with a few wins and some partnerships building with players who will be (or likely) with us next season.

 

I was away so missed the game, but kept an eye out on live score. As soon as I saw we had gone 1 up I knew we’d win, we seem to be a top team when we take the lead and the worst in the league when we fall behind, no doubt had we fallen behind we’d have seen a replica of the previous 4 games, but if we’d taken the lead in any of them we certainly wouldn’t have lost 4 on the bounce.

Anyway I wasn’t so bothered with the result as the seasons dead but more who scored, I was delighted to see the two goal scorers, two young lads who have more ability than most of the journeymen and loanees who have been getting game time recently. Start the younger lads GA ffs and give us something to get behind.

I don't understand why we can't play it on the deck when Cook does play. It's bonkers that the default setting this season seems to be to hoof it up to him when that wasn't how he ended up being the league's top scorer last year.
