Stubbs and Platt haven't averaged much more than a goal a game, i.e. play-off form as a pair. I think the key is pace from the fullback, Halliday is fine, but we need Richards back in the team as Ridelaguh - who I've always defended is too slow if playing the two as CB's.

 

People expecting many changes will be disappointed. I think he starts the same team as Tuesday but with Smallwood in for himself. At this stage, it wouldn't make sense to drastically change formation or personnel

 

I hope to goodness he starts Pointon especially as Pattison is out.

 

If not a start the kid needs experience of league two football be that off the bench or a start.

 

I forgot about Pattison being injured. I hope so too

 

Who would you leave out to get Pointon in?

 

I can't see a lot of changes either to be honest. The players on hand are pretty much set to either a 4231 or a 433 with sitting DMs as our wide players are more attacking wingers than say right or left midfielders that will do the defensive work for a 442, and we all saw how irrelevant the wing back system was. So it will be the same tactics but hopefully they are going to play a lot faster with the shackles off.

 

That depends how high they're being asked to play. The statistics last season though showed that they make a great pairing and we've certainly got more pressing issues that centre back.

 

Walker will be back in the middle and I'd definitely start Wilson again so Pointon would be on the left in front of Odour and Tulloch.

 

I just want to feel different at the end of the game whether we win,lose or draw.

At the final whistle I don’t want to feel like I have done at the end of the last 3 home games.
A complete indifference to the team.Can’t even be bothered to be annoyed with them.

Another 2 hours of my life that I’ll never get back.
Standing up to go home and realising that I can’t remember any positives from what I’ve just witnessed.

A bit OTT maybe but hopefully we get away from the feeling of it being a chore to attend a match at VP.

 

Well Pattison is out through injury so I think Pointon would replace him in the starting line up. Gilliead for Oyegoke. If Richards is fit he should replace Ridehalgh.

 

Pointon hasn't been injured at all according to his family on social media. So, hopefully, he is back today

 

So we're about to see if Mark Hughes was holding us back, or if (more likely) the club itself chose a direction that isn't going to work too well in League Two.

The issue with backing Hughes without a DoF is there's no contingency plan.

A DoF would have ensured we didn't go too far in one direction, unless that was our direction for the foreseeable future - in which case, expect more of the same today, folks.
