Is Young fit tomorrow as he was substituted vs Hull and some suggestions from the Hull thread that he was "grimacing" at the point of substitution. I didn't notice at the ground but...

I think he was grimacing because he barely touched the ball for 70 minutes. We were playing with 10 men,

If you're talking about Jake Young that comment is absolute nonsense. He supported Cook very well and also got up and down the line to help make us as solid as possible when Hull had the ball.

Mind you, in the Hull thread you also suggested Alex Gillead was man of the match so this comment shouldn't surprise me.

Re-watch the game. He didn't touch the ball for the first 20 minutes.

His sole contribution was to cut in and have a shot straight at the keeper after 25 minutes.
He was very poor. Amazed MH kept him on for so long.

He was 3/10, Gilliead was 9/10.

I think Jake Young has made more goal contributions already than Gilliead has in the years he's been here :joy:

I remember when he came off he was rubbing at his lower back visibly on TV, probably nothing but might have had a nudge going up for a header of landed badly for a challenge. Imagine it will be nothing.

Newport are using a 352 with wingbacks so far but the left sided one has only started playing as a LWB this season, mainly been a left sided forward all his career, so a potential target there for an experienced defender. Looks like they are going to try the same on the right, as they signed a right winger on loan from Bournemouth with the intent to play him as a wing back.

Omar Bogle is expected to partner Zanzala, the striker who used us for money leverage for a move to Barrow last season. Bogle scored a goal on debut but didn't feature in the cup game as they rotated a lot of the squad. Looking at their first games, our old loanee Matty Dolan has started as the middle CB of the 3, if Oliver/Cook can bully him we might see success as from memory, he isn't the biggest player.

Referee is Will Finnie who was the ref who sent off Paudie and Anthony O'Connor away at Forest Green in 2020. The only other City match he has ref'd in that time was the 2-1 defeat to Newport at the Cardiff stadium, after newport had some questionable game tactics to win a game winning free kick.

I counted 11 who started and all contributed well, plus the subs.

    You are talking nonsense

11 passes and 0 (zero) tackles. Opta know what they are doing.
We beat a Championship Club with 10 men.

You have conveniently not mentioned his part in the winning goal corner routine

He also had 2 crosses. Halliday had 3, Banks 4 & Ridehalgh 1.
    Is that fairer?

Just giving my opinion, he looked out of his depth.
I've nothing against the lad. I was the first to say how well he did against Barrow.

11 passes, 2 crosses and 0 tackles in 70 minutes. He was first to be hauled off.
He can't have touched the ball 20 times.
