I have sympathy with Chapman and its Hughes fault. He does this - he plays someone for a while then just seemingly drops them, sometimes out of the squad and then suddenly expects them to come and be all happy and full of energy and try and win a game for us. It feels like really poor man management.

 

Thoughtless? Careless? Off-pace? Lacking awareness? I could go on.....

 

Why? Chapman is a professional footballer with Championship experience. In Hughes defence I’d say (by default of Walkers injury) he’s had to rely on Chapman too much who has consistently failed to deliver. As a result he’s been rightly dropped and every attempt to give him a chance to play himself back in to contention, he fails.

 

Lack of midfielders on the bench didn’t help. We let Songo’O and Sutton leave and had no one to get about in the midfield. We played well but to be fair, a draw might have been a fair result.

Another managerial calamity.
Bringing Walker off for Chapman was criminal.

Failure to reach the playoffs and I’m afraid we’ll be seeing the end of Hughes.

 

Is it the depth or the choice in changing a trio that were probably our three best players on the day? The moment we changed the formation we looked weaker. Oliver would have been a better choice than Chapman, at least giving us a long ball outlet.

With the amount of headers won in our box by Mansfield in the last 15 minutes Hughes should have brought Stubbs on to protect the 3 points , poor management.

 

And the ballboy incident just before the goal distracted the players

Other results have gone favourably for us. So frustrating we never seem to capitalise on that when it happens.
How many points is that we've dropped now at home from winning positions? Must be getting close to 8 or 9 now.

 

Shame we weren't playing tennis. The ref would have stopped play until it was sorted.

Largely a very good performance but key moments in the game have killed us. Cook should bury his chance and Chapman should've played Nevers through when it was 2v1. Absolutely criminal from Nevers (I think) to leave their scorer wide open at the back post and it's yet another lead thrown away.

But it highlights our problems in that we're too reliant on Cook for goals. When you're as reliant on one man as we are, getting that second goal becomes a harder task.
