Why? Chapman is a professional footballer with Championship experience. In Hughes defence I’d say (by default of Walkers injury) he’s had to rely on Chapman too much who has consistently failed to deliver. As a result he’s been rightly dropped and every attempt to give him a chance to play himself back in to contention, he fails.

Lack of midfielders on the bench didn’t help. We let Songo’O and Sutton leave and had no one to get about in the midfield. We played well but to be fair, a draw might have been a fair result.

STOCKPORT ARE ABOVE US NOW !
I dont accept this "we have games in hand" crap. I would rather have the points in the bag, because there is no guarantee we will get anything from those games

And yet you continue to watch 'us'. I say 'us' because i feel you aren't really a part of us. You never, ever have anything positive to say about any City side. Why do you bother?

If Hughes hadn’t selected Cook we would have lost today. I think today spelt out the truth re: our promotion chances. We are a 7/10 League two team, a team which may flirt around the play offs, but quite simply won’t succeed in promotion.

So if we owned the same grass we are training what difference do you think that would make to match day performances?

That's the bit where I nearly mounted the kerb. He also blamed their cb for being lazy and not 'bothering to run back' which created an 'overload we couldn't defend'. Honestly it was a joke of an interview.

Isn't that what happened though? So was an accurate recollection of what happened?

Well you asked the question. Thought the performance was alright. I'm not arsed, just thought there were some daft comments in the interview after the game.

He was the best player on the park and deservedly got the MOM award. He was unlucky not to get an assist first half, shame them type of balls from him are rare.

I'm not defending Chapman. He clearly should've released earlier but he was trying to create half a yard to make sure the pass found Nevers. A split second delay and the moments passed. You see similar incidents all the time so he shouldn't be hammered for it. Could he have done better? Of course he could.

Unfortunately when Cook received the ball he only has the one thing on his mind, and to be fair Esia had made a mess of his one on one early doors and Cooks effort did bring a good save from Flinders.

It could have been 3-3 without a shadow of doubt. Enjoyable game for the neutral, but our Achilles heel of not finishing teams off is becoming a long term “injury”.

Playing without a goalkeeper would be problematic for most teams I would've thought.

    Top post, Steve.

I think this was a positive performance, and sometimes you just have to take disappointment on the chin.

Your right but even though we miss one or two chances just as most teams do we don’t miss loads of chances we don’t create enough we don’t get bodies in the box and we never or rarely score from corners or free kicks. I wish Hughes would set the players free ditch the safety first except when there is a proven need take a risk trust the forwards and blxxdy go for it

Yes if Critchlow had been on Platt’s man and Platt on Halliday’s then the team would have been far further right. This was either done by Mansfield running to the left to open up space or due to ball watching by our CBs and getting pulled over the where the ball was. Any goal can be looked at and avoided with hindsight, but goals happen, had we taken our chances this wouldn’t be a debate. Hence why you should always win and lose as a team.

Derby was playing in a 442 . We don’t play 442. Bless him, it was rare he went beyond the halfway line!

He'd have done a far better job than Nevers Kev and I honestly think he'd have tracked the centre half instead of just letting him jog past.

It wasn't a mistake to let him and Songo'o leave but it was a mistake that we haven't replaced them with genuine midfield options.
