If you really don't know what a positive approach to a game is then I can't really help you. I suspect you do though and are being overly analytical just to coincide with the narrative you have this season which is something along the lines of, everything is fine and the fans need to be more understanding that we don't have a divine right to success. Which, btw, is not what anyone is suggesting in the slightest when they ask for a different approach.

I'm just wondering what you expect to change for this particular game?

If we get out on the football pitch and our players are clearly better than yours, it will look like a more positive approach has been taken to the game, yet Hughes might not say a single thing different.

    I dunno.

It just feels like there's a belief that there's an easy fix 'if we just', but I'm not sure there is.

It’s doing what the manager says we should be doing pressing. Which we aren’t we are allowing other teams to do it to us keeping us trapped in our own half
We are a possession for possession sake team plenty of ball in our own half and in our own penalty area and almost zero in our opponents area.
The only time we have done it this season was the second half against Colchester where we looked threatening.

A distinct possibilty if we don't have the players to put the ball in the back of the net. Imagine the entertainment if we did though. We might see 3 or 4 goals being conceded every week but we wouldn't care because we know we'd score 5. Swindon fans must be loving it at the moment, wish we had a lad like their forward, Jake something or other I think he's called.

For a start, let's go 4 at the back and get another forward thinking player into the game. That may actually put us in the front foot from the start and not allow teams to sit in and make it tougher to break them down.

Given how we're conceding in nearly every game it looks like it's a minimum two goals just to win a game yet with the back five we're struggling to make two decent chances, let alone even hit the target.

Agree about 4 at the back, not really sure who the attack minded player might be.

I'm gonna guess you didn't have Gilliead in mind ;)

It would be Walker playing centrally with two wide men in a 4 2 3 1.

Gilllead would probably be one of the two holders as we're struggling at the minute with Pattison out.

Christ on a bike, is this really where we are, debating whether to go out against Harrogate with or without the handbrake on? Forget the risk, if Hughes and his squad cannot go out in front of 18k fans at home and take it to them, why do we even bother? If we go out front foot and lose because the players are n’t good enough then fine, we will have the evidence that this manager and the players we have recruited are not good enough to beat one of the worst teams in the entire football league.
If we are scared of Harrogate it is further proof that Hughes will never get us out of this league if in fact we still need it.

Imagine if we take the handbrake off and we beat Betty's Boys 4-0. How embarrassing would that be for MH?

The handbrake had better remain on! ;)

No one is actually saying that, the point being made (by me) is that it's not just as easy as saying "I feel like attacking this afternoon" and expecting everything to fall into place.

Hughes does have a conundrum in two areas:

    1) stick with 5 at the back despite it not really working, but that probably goes against his preference

    and

    2) choosing who to play as his attacking players, because we really have no good established options in any single position outside of Walker and Oduor

We can be as unafraid of Harrogate as we like, and Hughes can line up a 4-3-3 and tell them to go gung-ho, it doesn't mean we're going to have more success because of it.

If the last time we smashed a team was in 2013 (was that the game where someone scored from the halfway line because their keeper was utterly, ridiculously crap?), are we expecting to do the same to Harrogate as a 10 year anniversary celebration, or for a real reason based on the attacking ability of our team?

    66/1 for a 5-0 win tomorrow. Worth a tenner?

But we could start the game with an attacking intent. Maybe the team that finished the Grimsby game.?
If at 2pm tomorrow I see that same starting lineup, I’m going home.

Wow is the conversation about going on the front foot again a shite Harrogate side?

At home we should always be on the front foot now matter what.

I expect us to win at least 3-0 today.
