    Agree. I felt a bit for Afoka yesterday. A winger asked to play centre forward just because he's a big lad.

    It's criminal that we didn't sign a backup to Cook in the window when we knew he was injured. Instead we signed three wingers when we were supposedly playing a system with wingbacks instead of wingers. Now we're asking one of those wingers to play in Cook's role as a lone striker. This is so recklessly stupid it defies rational explanation.

    You only had to watch Weaver in the dug out yelling at his players to high press knowing if they did we would pass the ball around in our own half, once again a massive difference in possession but most of it being in our own half we created little when we did get into the final third.

    Totally agree. The latest recruitment seemed to be all about getting bodies in the building with no strategic thought about what we actually needed.

    It's also in complete contrast to what Spark's said the brief was this season about being leaner and meaner.

    it should certainly be part of the role of the CEO to question the manager about what otherwise amounts to the manager's own recruitment policy rather than the club's. What size of squad is needed? Why do you need this particular mix of players? How does the recruitment impact on the way the team will play? What kind of age structure do we need within the squad? It's not for the CEO to tell the manager which particular player should be recruited but equally it isn't right for the CEO to simply allow the manager to spend the budget as he feels fit without checks and balances. He, the CEO, shouldn't be ignoring his own responsibilities to the club. In the absence of a DoF, the CEO has to take a longer term view than simply the tenure of the current manager.

    The fans reaction to MH at FT yesterday was a cumulation of frustration since the bizarre substitution of Banks at Carlisle.

    The last two home games have been torture to watch. Deep down we know that we are a million miles off a promotion side. No attractive patterns of play, players looking like they haven't trained together. No style. No penetration. Nothing. Just a group of lads having a kickabout.

    That is NOT what we told was going to happen in the summer and that's what is frustrating and annoying the fans.

    Yes we are missing three shoe in first teamers but if we cannot backfill with something decent then as we progress through the season we will always be behind the curve.

    Depressing really. Really depressing. Another turgid season beckons. The recent WOAP article sums up the mood around the club right now.

    The only thing this club seems to be good at right now is shooting itself in the foot.

    That tells me he can't stand up to Hughes. The brief at the end of last season may have been leaner and meaner, but he's caved in and given Hughes anything he wants. That's not being a good CEO, that's being reckless. He compounded his mistake by bringing in wingers and a centre half at the last minute. This isn't American football where you change out full teams for different plays.

    I guess you have to see the potential.

    Like looking at a house for sale. A lot want to redecorate, change the garden, new floor covering.

    Then others want to replace the kitchen and/or bathroom. Some want to add an extension.
    It is looking at City as it is.

    Warts and all, and thinking what can I do with it, with my budget and the constraints.

    As I said in my post yesterday, I personally am not picking out individual players because I am more or less certain we have a fractious dressing room, which in my view is totally unacceptable. Hughes needs to start there although I doubt he has the required skills to sort it out, as I also believe that he is part of the problem or his deputy is or both.

    I agree.
    Totally over rated and only gets the buzz because he's local and from the youth team.
    If he was THAT good he would have had a shot on target or something like.
    Not seen anything to suggest he's gonna be better than Walker or Chapman.

    I'm baffled by that. The kids started 2 games. 2. Man of the match in one. In a struggling team with a toxic atmosphere surrounding confidence in the manager and a system that stifles any sort of attacking creativity.

    It doesn’t , but I tell you what effects young players is the toxic atmosphere. They lose confidence in the simplest of skills. What I liked about him was his enthusiasm and he kept going.
