I think Hughes was very lazy in recruitment personally and relied on Gent's recommendations far too much IMO
Like I said previously he sussed Taylor out very quickly.
Again he was very lazy in resigning players the like of Ridehalgh , Doyle and I'll get some pelters for this but also Gilliead IMO. We should have moved these on when we had the chance. Alright if you want Doyle as coach fair enough, but as NO.2 ???????
We also paid a fee for Osadebe for fcuk sake

The only silver lining is that the league is so congested and inconsistent that if we make changes in January snd are able to actually string some form together, then the season isn’t necessarily over.

 

Our season now is about stopping in this league and not leaving by the relegation route. We are so far off even thinking about leaving the top way out.

It wasn’t a good performance in the first half but you can understand why he went ‘safety first’ and picked the experienced Taylor. You can understand his other selections too as he’s finding out about the group.

I wasnt impressed with the fannying about at the back but hey ho.

second half we were the better team but didn’t make our spell of pressure tell before they scored another soft goal.

There are a number of players winging it at the club at the minute and he’ll soon find them out.

 

Yeah agreed. Was only nominal though wasn’t it? So can’t have been too much.

 

If we play 4-4-2 at Notts county we’ll be 3-0 down by half time. It was a fine formation in the 80s and 90s when everyone played it but now with teams swamping midfield we just get overrun.

People will say you can't blame GA for today but any new manager worth his salt should already know how poor Ridehalgh and Taylor are. Why on earth has he picked them? Then he's played 2 number 10s as wingers when neither of them really have the pace or acceleration to beat a full back.

Yes it's his first game but there's no way he's seen something in training that has made him put that team in that formation.

 

All we needed to do in the summer was make a few key signings to a team that finished in the playoffs. Yes here we are in mid November starting with Taylor, Osadebe and Ridehalgh. Absolutely unreal
