Bradford City Video Footage From The Mid 1970s

I am doing well today!! So apart from getting the opponents and our scorer wrong my memory is somewhat intact I am still pretty certain about the Gary Watson moment, but he must have missed!!

 

If I provide you with a few other snippets do you think you can help me piece together a few missing years in my life??!!

 

Can't remember who it was against but was it Watson that scored from the touch line on the Midland Road side or was that Fretwell.

 

Both looked very similar in those days

Some very good memories there, big Joe and Donny Hutchins, in the day would be very welcome in this squad.
David doesn't go these days, as for myself I have had a season ticket in the Midland Road stand since coming out of the Premier League. Still hard to come to terms with the fact that we were actually there!

 

The Stockport game that I’ve put on at the beginning was a 2. 1 defeat in 1975. Billy McGinley put us ahead with a penalty, you can see City celebrating at the beginning. Then you can see Stockports winning pen . Former Newcastle striker Wyn Davies is in the clip watching his teammate score.

 

Some nice kits on display there! Great images. Make sure you don't do a Clarke Griswold and lock yourself up in the attic after getting all misty eyed

 

You may be thinking of 77/78 season when we were in the third division. Fretwell smashed in a beauty from midland road side into the Bradford End goal. We were playing Preston NE, and I think we won 1:0

23k for the visit of non league Tootin & Mitcham. Just over 14k for the quarter final game v Southampton due to city bumping up the ticket prices for the Saints game.

One Don Hutchings goal that i remember was the brilliant volley from the edge of the area at the Kop End against Northampton, flew into the top corner.

 

And the headline in the T&A after the Southampton game was City probe low cup gate shock. Don't know why but that headline has always stuck in my mind.

 

Great video. Interesting at 4.07 that we do the L666ds salute. Or did they copy us? Genuine question is did a lot of clubs do that then? I don't recall City doing in from 1979 when I first started watching them. Mind you we didn't leave the Belle Vue until 2.55 after watching the *ahem* dancer.

 

I remember Garry Watson. Makes Chicksen look half decent. Except when he scored that equaliser against Ipswich away IIRC.
