I didn’t attend ‘our biggest game of the season’ ;)

I am very disappointed that our young fans misbehaved themselves, obviously for them they haven’t been to SOL so may well have that kind of mentality, but Boxing Day fixtures normally draw a big crowd regardless of who is playing.

Sorry but I get a bit twitchy when ppl start pulling stats and making assumptions based on one set of data and then anecdotal evidence to shore up the stats. Our fans might have misbehaved, but our team were treating it as another match to get a result. Obviously I wouldn’t know about your team, my primary focus is with my own team. There could be a number of reasons as to why teams appear to lose after playing at your place. If you wish to continue with your research, what might be easier if you looked at the club’s who didn’t lose, and correlation factors that are similar or the same, that may or may not fit your hypothesis, but you can always change it. Always good to have a working hypothesis so you can make adjustments;)

Often teams who come down to league one are surprised at the standards and some take time to settle down. Nevertheless ex PL/Championship teams always have an incredible resource advantage that helps their endeavours. It is no wonder fans and players alike feel that this isn’t where we belong, we ‘deserve’ to be higher, as the whole system is set up to accommodate that premise.

You have to admire teams who have grafted their way to promotion, rather than those that have had a helping hand, but obviously that is just my view.

It doesn’t. I think you are meeting each other half way. They step up you step down a bit. The amount of fans you bring too away games, these too are an occasion for a ‘smaller’ side but your away form is excellent. I personally love seeing your club turn it around. Proper football club with passionate fans

Quite right. I felt for once we came up against a manager who instead of thinking we are better than them, he fully respected us and came up with a game plan. He out parkinsoned us

That is the exact reason I decided to ask. It's interesting a few of you have said you're in spectacular form (one even saying that it's promotion type form) yet like I said before, the best teams I have seen play us this season is Wycombe, Oxford, Coventry and Fleetwood.

In no way do I feel that us or any other club deserve to be higher. We got ourselves in this decision by our own faults. No club 'deserves' anything, no matter where they're from. That's just delusion.

    ;);)

I don't like saying it and I did argue at the start of the season that it's an awful attitude to think we're the 'important game' and teams will perform better. The more the season goes on though the more I'm agreeing with it.

    Cringing at the thought.

I've never rated him either. He's found his level at this league. I wouldn't mind seeing him leave in January.

Sunderland fans obviously consider Bradford City to be an “important game” hence your highest home attendance this season. I personally don’t think we played as well as we have recently, but we were at a bit of a disadvantage not have 12 men on the pitch.

I thought you did it to be ironic. “Some other Premiership team”, knowing it was Sunderland, in response to a Mackem.

    Brilliant, even if unintentional

You may have a point when playing some of the smaller clubs in the league. They do tend to raise their game at Valley Parade too.

But to suggest we did, was wrong. It was actually our worst performance in December. We took as many to Rochdale as we regularly do and as for the juveniles letting off smoke bombs, they did that at Rochdale too.

    Seriously, you’re not special....!

On the basis of what I've seen this season, I'd be suprised if Sunderland got promoted. Therefore you may break more attendence records playing us next season.
That is of course if this magician of a manager havent stormed us up to the play-offs.
Be good to play Newcastle, the true giants of the North East, that would be a 'cup final'
Sadly our season started only 6weeks ago, you caught us on a slightly off day with a gelded ref.
However, an illustration of our current form.
Sunderland have recently played Walsall three times, you've drawn two and lost one, we played them, banged four in at a canter.

[QUOTE="Rogered Tart, post: 153300, member: 217"But now i don’t fear us against any team in the division as there is no stand out teams in the division this season. [/QUOTE]

I think Barnsley are a step above everyone, when they get it together. Otherwise. I agree

They looked very good when we played them, albeit we were utterly abysmal at that point. I still think they will go up whether automatic or via the playoffs. There isn’t a team that stands out like a Sheffield Utd or a Bristol City like in previous seasons though.

My frustration is Portsmouth. No one will ever convince me that they're much better than us. A good tricky winger is probably the difference between us - but we're not 30 points worse than them!!

Shows the importance of a good pre-season, something Parky always got right

And yes, with 20-20 vision Rahic deserved the boot just for the farce that was our pre-season!!!

What's the issue with Power's disgraceful disciplinary record?

Portsmouth are a fit and physical side from what i remember. They didn’t stand our as impressive but play to their strengths. They remind me of the set up Parky had us playing. As for Rahic, if he learns anything from his spell at our club it’s that you concentrate on what you are good at and employ others that are good at the other roles. It seems ironic now that Rahic brought Hopkin on board but he was never going to let him manage the way he is now. Thats not the reason Rahic came over here. Shame because we now look to have a manager who can make us progress.
