Prior to the game today, the season is over. At least 30 points needed from 16 games, so all said and done, around 2 points a game.

You can quote your maths and all that but the eye sight test confirms it, as does the inability to look in control of a game. No back to back wins since August.
Look at recent results /performance against Carlisle, Leyton, Crawley, Walsall, Stevenage, Harrogate, Rochdale. We mustered 8 points from these 7 games, all below us in the league.
Do you honestly believe this team, manager has the ability to provide 'automatic promotion' form?
Still to travel to Forest Green, Northampton, Sutton and entertain Tranmere. The top 4.
We have all of the top 7 to play yet can only muster in recent times, 8 points from 7 games from teams below us.

Yeah it's not mathematically over but it's over. Prior to today.

 

It might also have to do with sometimes when you hit 'post reply' the page buffers and doesn't refresh, even though it has been posted, so some people may be tempted to hit 'post reply' again

 

The team has stunk of mid table since day dot, regardless of mathematically possibilities. As above it’s not impossible to win the lottery but I won’t be planning my future around it happening. I said way back when we beat Rochdale 2-0 at home, just enjoy the wins because this team will just keep having good and bad days and struggle for any consistency as has proved. Crawley should have showed people why it won’t happen if nothing else, controlling the game, then a total second half collapse and it’s not the first time it happened. Promotion teams may do that once but no more.

Fans need to get real

 

There are a few supporters amongst our current fan-base with quite short memories. Obviously we should always aim upwards, and I'm as disappointed as everyone else with recent performances/position.
However, some facts for those supporters saying we are a Championship fan base, or have implied/said outright that we should be much higher, because of who we are. This is my 64th season as a City supporter, watching my first match as a 5 year old in 1961-62. We have been in the bottom 2 divisions for a grand total of 50 of those 64 seasons, with just 12 in tier 2 and 2 in the PL.
Obviously most of those relatively successful years have been in the last 30 years or so, so this has skewed the somewhat younger end of our fanbase to believe the Championship is our automatic right, but please don't make out that City's history suggests we are much lower than we deserve to be.

 

On that basis, after 36 years of supporting City I might as well give up. Low bar by supporters is the last issue we need.

 

Sometimes I think some of our fan base is actually less ambitious than the club, which is an achievement in itself. Bournemouth and Brentford were in league 2 with us only around 12/13 years ago and are two clubs historically who have spent large amounts of time on the bottom 2 leagues. I wonder how their fan bases would feel if they just got relegated until they came back down here? Maybe they’d just accept it, doubt it mind…

A business that doesn’t strive and demand better will stand still and start to regress.

50 years ago we were getting 2/3000 through the door, now even in league 2 we can get 14/15000 and if we were going well at the top of the league up to 20000, our stadium is as capable as many of hosting premier league let alone championship football, but apparently we should compare ourselves to when we had a wooden run down dump with a couple of thousand attending. May as well be a different club, we shouldn’t compare 50 years ago to now it’s just ridiculous.

Sick of the constant “we’ve always been shit so let’s just accept it” posts.
It almost seems like some fans are scared of a little ambition.
If we actually achieved a modicum of success it would leave them unable to spout off about being in a crowd of 12 at Rochdale away in 1924 like it’s some sort of badge of honour that they’ve supported the team for so long.
A pound of a new supporter is worth exactly the same as an other supporter.
My first game was Jan 1976.So what. Doesn’t make my ambition for the club any different to a supporter who only started watching us in 1999 so he/she could see Beckham or Henry at VP or in 2013 so they could go to Wembley.
I’ve travelled the length and breadth of the country supporting city.Again,so what.Doesn’t make my ambition for the club any different to any other supporter who doesn’t travel to away games.
You’d think we’d all want to see the club progress.
How wrong could we be.
Ambition- the new dirty word to some fans.
