or he could be putting it out there that we don't have a pot to urinate in to make other clubs aware in the hope that they don't laugh too hard at our pathetic attempts at trying to sign someone.

    Clever Bowyer :joy:

Think it’s the first time I’ve seen a manager say we’ve not got a pot to piss in and get the blame for it, like he’s the one who puts up the funds. Just because we got rid of a few high earners doesn’t mean we aren’t skint if it’s going towards the ‘deficit’

How much is Bowyers football costing us in gate receipts - 1000 flexi supporters per home match maybe more. - 10 grand a week? Doyle and Vaughans wages.

At some point poor attendances has got to bite

My problem with what he's saying is that he's contradicted the statement from the owner only a couple of weeks ago saying there's money if needed.

It shows me they are not on the same page with how they think about things. They shouldn't be contradicting themselves so openly in public.

I say contradicting as he didn't mention circumstances have changed and in any case there's a gap of a couple of weeks in between the two statements and in between we've let two higher earners go!

The more I think of this whole sorry affair, the more I believe that the club may find itself between a rock and a hard place.

Gary Bowyer is not the man for us, I think this is now pretty clear to the majority of the fan base and the board. However he does have us in a good position in the league despite his lack of tactical ability, coaching nous and negative approach. This position is the sole reason why GB has some supporters still backing him.

Only 2 years ago the club fired a manager who had City in a lofty position in January, I am not saying this was right or wrong but the way the season petered out showed that there was nothing positive to come from this change. Whilst I believe the circumstances with GB are completely different, the club may fear that if they take action now then the same could happen - leaving them open to criticism that they haven't learnt from their 'mistakes'.

GB was supported in the summer, but if I was the board after what I had seen this season - I would not afford him another penny to spend. That said I can see why they haven't pulled the trigger, not that I agree with it!

Finally, the Vaughan deal just does not make sense. If he is this bad egg or we are struggling for money then surely any move should have been made permanent - I mean if JV desperately wanted away then surely his camp would also have been pushing for this.

You don't necessarily need big budget, what would Accringtons have been when they got promoted, but you do need a good manager to get the best out of what you have got.

I can understand Vaughan not wanting to sign permanently for Tranmere, they are in a perilous position in the league, and he could have found himself back among the dead men in league 2 next season. Having said that,I don't think we will see him in a city shirt again.

And the next manager will be the the Messiah until he loses his first game he will then be incompetent and when he loses again he will turn into devil himself

We’ll find out tonight who’s lying. I for one have no problem Bowyer contradicting them if he’s telling the truth. I’ve been told from someone I trust we’re skint have been for a while and Vaughan’s issue with Bowyer has given them a perfect chance to get the bills down. But we’ll see.

If we reinvest that money today then Bowyer and my source have either got it wrong, if not the board have lied to us. Least we’ll know soon.

    Clever words from GB.;)

What manager would publicly state he had loads of money to spend. That would be madness.

What Accrington did was considered very out of the ordinary, in fact some said it was a minor miracle at the time.

you’re giving an exception rather than the rule as an example, it very very rarely works like that. Plus it helps while they don’t have a lot of money, Andy Holt knows how to run a football club, and things behind the scenes are professional and tick along nicely. Which can’t harm.

Yes park, that is exactly what will happen.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over but expecting different results.

I take your point and also Tranmere may not have wanted to commit for a permanent deal, however I was more meaning that we should have been almost insistent on a permanent deal.

We potentially now have a player returning in the summer who we don't want (under current regime) or who has been shipped out because of his attitude - which has been insinuated. May as well have foregone the loan fee if it would have encouraged Tranmere to take over contract.

    No ambition. Bo des
RE Vaughan, he still has 2.5 years left on his deal here and he must be on a good wage given he's recently been contracted to Championship clubs. It might simply be a case of not being able to find a permanent taker right now, mid season, so we've just offloaded him on loan until the end of the season and will deal with the problem again in the summer.

I've heard Doyle was on £11,000 a week, we can't get the best out of him and he will be out of contract at the end of the season. Maybe Vaughan had become a bad apple. Worrying thing for me is those two off the books yet we are told there's nothing in the transfer/wages kitty.
I agree Bowyer should go but if he is staying and his job is safe he should have funds made available to him.
My own view is both players should have been kept on, Bowyer should have gone and I would have approached McCall. I know he has had two spells here before but in my view he should not have been sacked, Rahic should have gone before him. The squad we have is capable of much better and McCall's style of football would help us push on and certainly be more pleasing on the eye (not difficult I think everyone would agree on that).

Can't see Doyle being on as much as 11k. Thought he was on closer to 8k?

Either way, still a big saving now he and Vaughan are off.

He wasn't on 11k, it was still a heck of a whack though, closer to you estimate if I remember

If true that's ridiculous for a league 2 player.l know we were in the division above when we signed him,but with those sort salaries to meet,no wonder football is in a financial mess.

According to the WOAP write-up of the latest Fans Media meeting, 2.7 million, but 60% of that was tied up with signings from the Rahic period. So a decent budget, but little room for Bowyer to move in.
