Eh? Were second favourites in most bookies eyes. You ain't gonna get a team odds on in any division in the EFL. Infact there is only one side in the entire 92 that is odds on and that is unsurprisingly Man City. As for the length of contract, no one who has interest elsewhere would ever move to a club an a one year deal, Angol signed on a year because he knew that's all he'd get offered elsewhere. Look, the club ain't planning for a big turnover of players in the next two years, its why they've given out the contracts they have. At last we seem to have a plan that isn't just to survive to the end of the season.

Denise Coates must be kicking herself that she knows nothing every time her Bet365 salary and dividend cheques land on her doormat.

They suspend outright markets on match day, that’s all.

Some firms republish prices by Sunday but most it will be on Monday. Same in every league in UK. Can bet from week one until May.

One thing bookies are excellent at is parting people from their money.

    Look at last year's odds:

Sky Bet League Two 21/22 winner odds (via Sky Bet)
    • 6/1 - Salford.
    • 10/1 - Bradford.
    • 11/1 - Bristol Rovers.
    • 12/1 - Exeter, Mansfield.
    • 14/1 - Forest Green Rovers, Leyton Orient.
    • 16/1 - Newport, Port Vale, Tranmere.
    • 18/1 - Carlisle, Northampton.
    ---

How much money do you think they won with people backing Salford & Bradford City?

The real champions were joint sixth-favourites.

Their job isn't to predict the winner - that's what fools think - their job is to get you to bet your money so that they can take it off you.

    Mission successful last season.

As long as the Bradford City's exist they'll be pretty happy too!

Our fans pour their money in even if we're not a top half team!

That's how betting odds work in football, nobody ever ends up as a dead cert, never have.Theh mainly go on things like transfer activity, the manager at the club and his previous record, the clubs previous form and build a market off the back of it. I'd say most fans in league 2 have us down as a top three side due to the players brought in and our manager. If you gave 100 people a tenner and told them to stick it on who they fancied I'd say most would put it on either us or Stockport.

Oh I understand his point. Mine being that it's how the market works, hence why Man City at the only odds on team in the whole league

Bookies know nothing. They are reactive. If you placed 1k on Salford to win the league without a ball being kicked they will change their odds.

Working out div 2 and putting us up their currently will be based on our attendance size and them wanting to protect themselves from loses in case we did get promoted. If 17k all had bets on City going up at 5/1 then they will be in trouble.

As for Man City they are favs and rightly so based on winning it last season, money they have to spend etc but they are not like 1/10 on to win it.

Bookies just react. If Man City lose a few at the start of the season their odds will change.

I would take no notice of the bookies. 10 games in we will all find out more.

I know of a bankrupt bookie, had a little shop on Heaton road in Manningham. Walter something. My uncle had an accumlator on the gee gees that came in. He did not lay the bet off , it finished him, although said uncle only got part of the winnings.

I wouldnt pay much attention to the odds in L2. Cambridge nearly won it the other year and were 100/1 I think.
The bookies know everything at the top level due to the amount of data available. When it comes to pricing up League 2 they are a bit lazier. It is just an unpredictable league though - Swindon weren’t fancied at all the other year. lincoln were 14/1 the season they went up after signing Akinde from Barnet - the year before all they were missing was a goalscorer.

Salford will be favs purely because of their ownership and the possibility they could go on a spending spree. They certainly arent priced up on manager or achievements on pitch. Even on xG and similar they weren’t anything special last year (10th best or so).

Shocked that someone like @Sergio Pinto III@Sergio Pinto III doesn’t understand this.

The bookies know about as much as you and me. They have no insight.

The bookies don’t take much money on League 2 and they are happy to just let the fans knock the markets into shape because most fans only bet casual amounts and they aren’t going to pay out much. They are much slower to react to teams when they go on winning runs in L2 and National League.

if you ever look at the goalscorer odds you’ll see names on the list who don’t even play for us.

The bookies won’t pay the salaries of traders who are clued up and comb such markets, they just accept there will be more mistakes and if someone does get clever and fills them in, they’ll just close their account.

There will be enough of our fans backing us to make the price keep contracting.
