Mmmm! That's stretching things a little. Try the sausage fingers excuse as an alternative.

Anyway, you owe @Park bantam@Park bantam an apology! John Hendry was indeed a Scottish footballer who played in claret & amber (sort of) and a bit of a favourite at his club. Park's simply got the club wrong. I guess he must have been referring to his third club, Motherwell! : unamused:

Edit - on reflection no apology is necessary at all

Was that the game where we missed two penalties and our relegation was confirmed?

    Yes.

We played some great stuff that day, it was as if the previous six months hadn't happened.

I agree with the Carbone Chelsea game. I'm afraid we'll never see the likes of it again.
Few others that come to mind are Dean windass Vs bury, lee mills home to port vale, and Stuart for two seasons straight 1998 - 2000

Some brilliant examples so far. Stead v Chelsea is the one that always comes to mind.

Another to throw in the mix, albeit as a substitute, is Kyel Reid against Burton in the 3-2 League Cup comeback. Nostalgia could easily be blinding me but I remember it being one of the most edge of your seat performances since Beagrie, Blake, Carbone. Wells & Darbs may have got the goals but it was Reid's impact that set us on our way to getting through as he firmly penned Burton back in some awful conditions. It was the first time I remember thinking we had something with the Reid/Meredith partnership as Meredith marauded forward and Reid was dribbling past players for fun, often while being marked by two or three opponents.

Exactly the kind of performance you watch football for and a vital footnote in the history making that followed.
