Most of that I agree with. If Leeds can get through this season, I expect them to become at least a mid-table PL team for the foreseeable future. Us? We might with a fair wind regain our position as an established League 1 team and have the occasional tilt at promotion. But under the current EFL structure and without something fundamental being done to the finances of the Championship, I can't see us ever becoming an established Championship club. Too much water has passed under the bridge for that to happen. There are too many Championship owners with very deep pockets who will continue to subsidise their clubs at their own expense.

Where I disagree with you is the notion that Leeds (or anybody else for that matter) would ever become our parent club. Yes, we might have a close relationship with them, or with other clubs, as part of their younger players' development but I can't imagine it being extended beyond that. What's in it for Leeds, say, when there are 72 clubs in the EFL for them to loan players to as part of their continuing development? Why would they want to restrict themselves by putting their players through a single B club?

What's up with Edmonson. Says that deal looks unlikely. Where's he headed?

They must have some other strikers who they want to send out on loan. Looking at their Academy results, they seem to score goals (same gameplan as the first team it seems), but as I keep banging on about, it's whether or not they can do it in the mens game that's the thing.

Its a balancing act. When bringing in loan players from 'feeder' clubs, they have to be able to add immediate value. They need to be at a current level of ability that exceeds our own youngsters, so we benefit in the immediate term and we give a platform for further development in support of the parent club. Otherwise, we're better sticking to our own youngsters. A good example is Finn Cousin-Dawson. If we'd brought him in on loan from Leeds, we'd be underwhelmed. But he's defensively decent and you can see potential there. It'll need 2-3 years of development before he's a reliable first teamer, but its worth that investment in time because the pay-off is ours. Whereas Hossanah clearly has more about him right now and will likely have a better career, so he was a worthwhile loan.

There's no point at all bringing in loan youngsters unless they're better than our own kids.

Having a similar gameplan through the differing levels of their academy and though to the first team, is part of Bielsa's approach. It provides continuity as Barca have done for decades and both Guardiola and Klopp are now doing; and I suspect others as well. It's the sort of thing we could learn from and have that same approach throughout our academy and into the first team. Maybe with T&S now in charge, there's a great opportunity for us to emulate that approach.

The trouble is with young loans and probably older ones as well is they are often bit players with a few minutes here and there. Players sometimes need games and a bit of time to show what they can do

I genuinely don’t consider them a rival. As you say, more just a bit of light hearted, local geographical banter. Not to over look certain events of the past, but let’s face it every club has probably experienced the same with Leeds fans at some point.

I’m going to get shot down here - but I enjoy watching them at the moment and always keep an eye for their result. The style of football Bielsa has them playing could really bring through some great young talent if the set up is working through youth level. This is only beneficial to a club in our position right now, let’s be honest.

News of us working with them in this way makes sense for all parties. If it produces the next Josh Cullen or Reece Burke I suspect no one will complain.

Its common sense, but its a crucial element of developing your own talent. If you're asking a youngster to step into the first team, they're already dealing with a step up in quality. But it gives them a much better chance of success of the nature of their role and the approach of the team is consistent with what they're used to.

Thats the guy!- we will be getting him back soon, why?
Played on loan last season at scunthorpe, no doubt Turnbull will be checking him out.
One goal in 15 appearances says he is not really developing much.
    Best leave well alone.

I've never had this obsessive hatred of Leeds to be honest. Having worked in Leeds for long periods I have many friends and associates who are Leeds fans and they were all pretty fine people. Now Huddersfield on the other hand, I can't abide those dog shagging two hats, I've only ever really known three of them and to a man they were complete ar&eholes with a massive superiority complex. The sooner they get back to their natural place of League Two, the better,

German football is the same. The academy players of the bigger teams are all told to play the same system as the national team so I heard.

Payne was absolute quality - for 6 months. Then turned to crap.....

I did like him when he was on it though.

Can't work out what happened to him. One minute I'm comparing him to Robbie Blake, albeit in the lower leagues and the next I'm not even sure he's actually on the pitch.

He's obviously got ability but there's definitely something missing in his overall game.
