I'd be hugely disappointed in Alexander if he did. The team he puts out today is more than capable of turning over a Barrow side out of form.

Yes, but hey, he knows more than us I guess about the overall fatigue/fitness levels.

I don't know why exactly he would want the game off. I imagine he probably comes out and rubbishes that claim, true or not.

we are very unlikely to be in that position again. If we had played today I think we would have lost the game. We may still do when it’s eventually played but we will at have an extra day for preparation

So fooking odd but someone should be held accountable for it :( if there was an issue with the pitch then Barrow and the groundstaff should have had it sorted or at least call in a local ref to look at it................still it may actually help us out im sure the lads would have been shattered going into that game, now they have a few days off before we head into a crucial period.

Still not fair on the poor sods who travelled up there :(

Still think we will have full alocation if we are up there.
We had a game postponed at Mansfield last season and still took our full alocation for a midweek game

It's a lot nearer to Mansfield than it is to Barrow and the journey is much easier too.

It'd be useful to see footage of the inspection. It's all about bounce and carry rather than the appearance of the pitch. I can only assume the ball wasn't bouncing in the affected areas. If that's the case shame on Barrow. If the ball was bouncing in the affected areas I can't understand why it'd be called off.

Unlike you to join the conspiricy game Jon.

I was there and had a longish chat with Pete Wild, total class. Consider these points.
    1. The pitch was not waterlogged as has been suggested. I walked on it when I arrived at 1.20 p.m and again after the postponement No issues at all.
    2. The suggestion GA wanted the game off is incorrect according to Wild. His comment was the Ref tried to pin it on GA. Why?, we've won the last three league games and were looking at only one change from Wednesday, discounting Walker for Doyle and facing a side on a poor run.
    3. Comments and reporting by Simon Parker are correct, both sides wanted to play and Wild did suggest we could train in one half of the pitch or even play a friendly but that WAS declined on the basis the EFL might have something to say about clubs taking the ****.
    4. Barrow did a full warm up and then played an inter squad game on the pitch.
    5. As to Steve C comments about a local Ref inspecting, I don't know but the match Ref was local to Barrow overnight and could have looked yesterday or at worst first thing today but didn't, intead it appears from another Barrow official that it was him who wanted the game off not the Clubs. He even waved away the groundsman with no discussion about remedial work.
    6. Barrow's gk told me the area of concern was much worse for the last game when the Ref made no comment.

Sad day, lovely weather for a change and chance of a win spoiled by an idiot. I'm Glad Barrow are reporting him, he deserves it.

Not really a conspiracy, that was Wild's insinuation. It's been published now, so he can't take it back whether he believed it or not. Like I said before, I assumed Graham would rebut the suggestion whether it was right or wrong.

Wild might have meant he was told by the referee that Graham wanted it off, but if he knew that was false information, he probably shouldn't have reported it.

Either way, we go forward. The referee will have to deal with any pushback, as he should.

It's rare that I disagree with you Wilsden, but the ref has been incompetent with this one.

Why didn't he have a look at the pitch earlier, and why would he not allow Barrow's groundsman the chance to try and fix the very small area that he deemed dangerous.

Pathetic decision and I hope Barrow are successful with their complaint against him, I won't hold my breath though, the EFL will look after their own.

Your last sentence is the most important one.
They very much back their own in these situations.
All he will say is in his opinion it wasn’t safe.
They can’t say he’s wrong as it’s his opinion.

The major point seems to be everybody else agreed it was ok or could have been made ok given the chance.

One thing I did notice on the club's twitter/x video was the players coming out on the pitch and Kelly with them, he seemed OK in his walk and with his tracksuit on so probably named in the team or on the bench if we played today.

As WW says, the goalkeeper mentioned the parts of the pitch responsible for the refs decision were worse, in his opinion, during the last game yet caused no postponement.
I've got to agree in this instance the refs made a *@?$ up.

I like it near the end when the young lad says ‘We would have won anyway’ and Alexander replying with ‘That’s the spirit’ ;)

We will see, Barrow fans I spoke to said it was a loose part of the pitch that was the issue. If players got injured getting their foot caught in something like that how would you and other fans feel? Regardless of other games they played maybe the refs were wrong and wanted their fee at all costs. Maybe the ref was over cautious but he has to live with it if anyone gets injured. Clubs need to take responsibility to make sure all their facilities are safe and maybe start by investing more in them rather than overpaid journeymen. Interestingly they didn’t play in the goal mouths in their proxy training session, I doubt they will get far with the EFL. As I said in a previous post, similar happened at Crawley a couple of year ago and they had to dig that part of the pitch up. Should Barrow be deemed needing the same work they should absolutely face a fine.
