Agree Fordy, similar to Bolton in January when they brought in Lee and Williams in particular. We need players who are going to come in and automatically improve the starting 11, however over the last 5 years under Rupp when has that happened?

 

Agree! Had we started the season with this squad, we would certainly be looking at POs now. 3/4 decent additions and correct formation should see us easily make top 3 with the probability of staying up.

 

They have indeed but that has no bearing on the future.

Being in league 2 is hardly the fault of Trueman, Sellars or Sparks, just comparing an earlier season where position was similar under Parkinson to now. However I know you don’t like facts getting in the way of a good argument, so I will leave you and your mates to your gloom. You still maintain we have to win every game? Not possible.

 

Scales always seemed to pass the ball backwards to FCD, and Evans ONLY contribution seems to be from set pieces.
Just jogs around trying to keep out of the way of any tackles.

 

Your right their fighting for their league 2 lives, but if we don’t win Fordy and his chums will have a meltdown and demand half time sackings of the entire management team, Sparks and the kit man.

 

That's what I thought but, unfortunately they were.

 

After listening to some of the commentary in the last few weeks glad they are back

 

They would be absolutely mad to sit back and defend. What little chance they have on avoiding relegation is going to be dependent on them winning games so I expect them to be at us from the off. If that results in them scoring first then like you say, it will be difficult for us to get back into the game because if they take the lead, that is when they are likely to park the bus. We need to be ready to hit them on the break from the first whistle and to press like we did against FGR. Do that well and I can see us winning comfortably but if they score first, I think we will be lucky to get a draw.

 

Well, they are keeping things tight - look at their last few results. This will not be an easy game.

 

I'm not saying it will be an easy game and I'm aware they are unbeaten in something like the last 7 or 8 games. However, keeping it tight and ending up with a draw is not going to help them avoid relegation - they could draw every game left and remain unbeaten until the end of the season but what's the point in that when it will send them down? If they play like that more fool them because they need wins if they have any hope of surviving the drop.

 

And what weakness are they playing on....Don’t be shy Don?

 

Who would have said that 4 or 5 games ago. We've gone from solid to shaky in a few short weeks. I see this as being a tight affair with an odd goal in it. I'm not sure if Grimsby are at the point of having to win every game, so I'd imagine they'll see a point here as a good result. Change Evans for Vernham and take the game to them. With Hanson up top we shouldn't need to worry about being done for pace.

 

I agree on Scales, he makes some good runs that aren't always being rewarded at the moment, his goal being a good example but sometimes the ball doesn't come. Passing wise he's a bit backward focused at the moment. With a Hosannah or Meredith type player at right back I think he would do well.
