No shame losing to Forrest.

Massive match against Oldham now though. We need to start winning.

Na, just fitness.

 

Not the best opponents to face so early, but gives Adams further food for thought in where we need reinforcements..so that's good. Also still have Laverty to come in. Must admit my fears were if the defence was actually any stronger, but so far so good. Think that we have to sharpen things in midfield and upfront though.

 

Any criticism of the statuesque defenders or .......?

 

We've somehow managed to qualify for the first round I believe..

 

Is this really our best xi with Gilly Cooke and Angol can't see them scoring enough goals tbh

Look weak at full back, number 3 looks terrible on those highlights

 

Angol hasn’t looked bad but doesn’t look like he offers a goal threat and neither does Gilliead, both are solid but we obviously need goals. If personally like to see Eisa get a game who probably scored more last season than them two combined in the last two seasons.

 

I am waiting for Eisa to get some starts I think we are unlikely to drop him when he finds form

Agree that Angol and Gilly won't score too many and we know Cooke is not a goalscorer though his free kick was nice tonight hopefully he breaks the mould this season

I hope we're not going for the hardest working xi even though that might be Adams' way I'd try loading as many goals into that team as possible and Eisa is the best scorer after Cook with Vernam third maybe?

 

Tell you what I'm gutted with that tonight. For the most part we were really good and just like Saturday were the better side for me. Difference was they finished their chances and we were terrible in front of goal.

FCD did well after an early booking but Ridehalgh got done for pace too many times and was a big reason the first goal was scored.

Overall, a really enjoyable game and atmosphere and I think we can count ourselves unlucky not to have won.

 

We weren't outclassed. They took their chances and we didn't. Put a decent striker in this side and we go places.

 

Just like Saturday.
Deserved a lot more than we got.
Missed loads of chances, again some poor decision making.
Stonewall penalty when Angol was fouled, took him before the ball.
Like most I think we need a forward who gets in the 6 yard box.
Cracking away following as well.
Non stop singing for 99 minutes.
Cheered the team and manager off at the end.
The supporters can see how we are trying and playing some good stuff.
1 or 2 quality additions will see us promoted this season.
Don't dip into transfer market we could be risking a place in top 7.

 

Both full backs got done in their goals. However if we could finish we could have buried them. Angol 1 on 1 should have been taken. How Eisa missed the target I don’t know. encouraging in many areas. Cooke was a major influence. I worry if he gets injured. A group of us said at half time this would be a good test of this teams character at 2-0 down. They dug in and deserved more than they got. Our team showed some guys I’m pleased to say. It’s been a while.

 

I agree with you re Cooke. We saw last season how we struggled when he was injured and whilst we have a lot of options in attacking areas, I don't see anyone in the squad who can play in that central role like Cooke does. I do hope we're looking at that sort of player in the market.

 

We want goals. Need to start converting chances. could easily have won that last night.
Possative early signs though.
Hopefully Mr Adams is starting to see what we need and tweeks the squad.

 

Im convinced (hoping) that we have purposely left a gap up front for a decent loan signing

 

Well that number 10 shirt is still going begging.....

 

Glad to see many of you now agree with me that we are just short of quality players.

If we don’t make 1 or 2 QUALITY signings we could struggle.
