Match Thread Away vs Forest Green Sept 19th

Poor quality game, but entertaining second half to my surprise. Good fight when down to 9(8 really with Guthrie, god he’s useless), if Staunton doesn’t kick the floor we win with 9 away from home against a team who beat the mighty Bolton last week.

Trouble is now we’re down to the bare bones at the back and it was up front we were most desperate for new players.

This level is terrible quality I don’t actually think either team will struggle this season, but it was awful to watch.

 

Thankfully they had no idea what to do with 2 extra men rather than us defending well. That's one of the worst teams I've seen us play in our time in league 2, the shithouse number was like a piss poor version of Akpan. Honestly, a decent side takes both of these today to the cleaners. We lack strength in depth and have a manager who seems nowhere near working out a continual strategy, that line up today created pretty much zilch because the players were unsure of their roles. A win would have papered over some very big cracks that could widen quickly if we stubbornly refuse to up our game in the transfer market.

 

It's a victim mentality. I dont care if theres contact. You're down to 10 men. Dont square up to someone and give the ref the option. Its basic stuff!! But then, we dont do the basics. Let's go all 'big man' when it doesnt matter. Defend a corner? Stand in a wall? Nah, we shit that stuff.

 

Just think you could have wasted £149 buying a season ticket, think about the positives.

 

I'll be honest mate, I'm struggling for positives from that.

 

City will have some company at the bottom if they do struggle-

Southend/Oldham and Bolton are not in a good place.

If you did see the game you know how bad we were again today....no pace and nothing going forward

Can somebody tell me what Ismail offers?Surely cooke or Pritchard would have been a better option.
While a draw with 9 men is positive they missed a penalty and we did well to hang on.
The first half when it was 11v11 was absolutey dire. McCalls selection was bizarre.
I've no idea who's going to play in defence next week but at least it's not boring.

FGR horrible team, cheat, divers you name it, was by far the most memorable game at home last season for nearly getting banned for slagging off their manager.
Good point all considering, should be happy with that.
Why so much negativity on this forum?
Stayed off for a few months because the lockdown was ban enough without reading some of this dribble. Would have to question if some on here are actually city fans.
We should be looking farward to eventually watching football live and be thankful we still have a football club to watch.

Same stuff every year we hear, last season some said we’d double drop. It’s league 2, even when we were last promoted most games were garbage close games in the league. I don’t think we’ll go up, but trouble nah. People were going on about Bolton pre season, and thinking Forest Green got a good result against them last week. But most at this level are just crap, it’s why Harrogate have had no issues adjusting to life at this level and non league teams never do.

 

To give a bit of balance to the forum .

 

Your last sentence sums up alot about our fans.

 

I agree with what you are saying but I’m not going to criticise a player for standing up for a teammate too much. Stupid but secretly you’d be disappointed not to see any reaction
