I only heard bits of McCall's post match interview, but he seemed to indicate he tinkered with the side to match up FGR's expected starting line up. Why can he not just pick a side, with players in their natural positions, and let the opposition worry about us instead

Unless things change, and the recruitment is good, I do. We’ve scored four in five games and conceded eight. As the squad stands today it will not score enough to trouble the play offs and I read somewhere you need 45 goals to avoid the bottom two. I don’t think we’re that bad, but the confidence or attitude in the squad has been piss poor the last two seasons.

The squad is poor. Donaldson is past his best, there are five or so who clearly are not up to standard and one or two with questionable attitudes.

Two league games in we’re already possibly faced with a back three of BRE, French and one of the first year pros for the next game. That’s the depth of the squad. McCall seemingly preferred Novak at CB over Cousin-Dawson.

We’ve no right back, two ineffective wingers, one striker of any note, we’ve Clarke who if we’re to play him means nullifying one of our better players in Cooke.

Recruitment over the next few weeks will I think define the season, some kids from championship academies are all well and good but it needs some real leadership and quality. I think we’re more likely to be closer to the bottom than the top

 

oh dear, seems some of our posters are losing some of their objectivity. Not the best result, I thought the team was a bit odd but for the love of god, can;t some of you give a bit of credit to the team for getting a point when playing 30 mins with 9 men?
Especially given the horror show against Lincoln, that effort, although nowhere near what we want (win every game) was surely worth some praise?

It's as though some (not saying you) want us to be rubbish, so they can prove their point

I understand that with this terrible pandemic, everyone's a bit miserable - but christ, no-one should read these boards if they are feeling depressed

 

I’d like Bradford City to be doing more than holding their own against sides like Forest Green, three years ago we were within minutes of the Championship. Now we’re holding our own, or getting battered 5-0, against teams who a few seasons ago were non league. Serial mismanagement on and off the pitch has lead to this. Those in charge during this period should hang their heads in shame

 

POC was 100% right to be furious about what Adams did to French. He was 100% wrong in the way he went about addressing that fury.

I do my best and try and tell it as it is, I believe some would rather we had lost to enhance their point, City fans don't ya just love em.

 

If we hadn't taken those shots the keeper wouldn't have made the errors. Isn't that the general hope when shooting that the keeper lets the ball in? Or am I missing something here?

 

I'd add that it was positive Novak was in the box ready to capitalise on McGee's error. Last season there would have been nobody there to do that.

Me too to be honest mate. The way we want to play it was always going to be difficult today against a team of thugs (it must be a reaction to having a vegetarian diet forced on them). We then go and make it difficult for ourselves with a lack of discipline.
We are definitely lacking in few positions (not as many as some of our unhappy clappers think).
Paudie isn't as good as I think we thought he would be, AOC is capable of better and needs to start showing it, as for BRE, he doesn't suit the way McCall wants to play and I'd only start him if the opposition play a big bruiser up front.
We need a pacey frontman which we all know, including McCall, a right back (or good wingback) and a central midfielder to at least put pressure on what we already have. The young inexperienced lads like Watt and Staunton will develop quicker if the experienced players like AOC are setting a good example. We probably need another centre half but that probably isn't going to happen unless we can move one on. I'd also prefer an outfield player as captain, EVEN if that meant it being AOC!
I know some people think the whole squad is crap and needs replacing but that isn't going to happen either so we need face up to it.
I'm not a happy clapper (whatever that is) but after 46 years following City I refuse to let it depress me, I have a big moan, several beers, come on this forum and have my say, then try to look for forward.

 

Was a poor listen and watching the "Highlights" was more shocking. Novak's goal was a pub league goal, probably the worst city goal I've seen.

I don't see much to this team. No decent centre back, AOC should have been out of the club once we left league one, he's not an influence/leader you need in that position. BRE likewise. The two should have been shipped out.

It wasn't passion that got us a draw, it was pure desperation after two sending offs. POC should feel aggrieved.

 

Well i'm proud that he stood up fo a team mate. He might miss a few matches but it shows me the kind of character i want in a player, someone who will back a team mate up getting a cheap shot. I want my players to run through brick walls for each other. In fact i find your analogy way off the mark, trying to compare a guy blatantly cheating to lad convicted of manslaughter. What next? We'll be charging Paudie with asaault.

 

If i had reacted the way Adams did i would be embarrassed with my actions. You need to watch the video again and carefully. And just watch how two players coming together causes the physical aftermath. Pretty hard to push a 6ft 12 stone bloke over at the best of times, i'd say a physical impossibilty with the amount of contact on display. So how did he end up over the barrier with such minimal force? Because he controlled the action to get a player sent off. I'm a bit old school, don't like cheats in the game.

 

The problem was needlessly playing 4 or 5 players out of position and that's on Stuart, not the players.

 

Love what their owner is trying to do there but bloody hate the way cooper makes them play.
Guys and gals, do you remember FGR @ home last season, pure gamesmanship and time wasting and i'd left the ground at 90 mins and the buggers snuck in a late winner.

Listened to the home commentary and they seemed to think it was even game until the penalty. No way is the second a red card, I suspect that he barely touched the player. Also worked their socks off to defend with 9 men. Early days, and certainly nothing to justify some of the ridiculously pessimistic comments on here.

 

It's a victim mentality. I dont care if theres contact. You're down to 10 men. Dont square up to someone and give the ref the option. Its basic stuff!! But then, we dont do the basics. Let's go all 'big man' when it doesnt matter. Defend a corner? Stand in a wall? Nah, we shit that stuff.
