FGR horrible team, cheat, divers you name it, was by far the most memorable game at home last season for nearly getting banned for slagging off their manager.
Good point all considering, should be happy with that.
Why so much negativity on this forum?
Stayed off for a few months because the lockdown was ban enough without reading some of this dribble. Would have to question if some on here are actually city fans.
We should be looking farward to eventually watching football live and be thankful we still have a football club to watch.

finish the game with 11 men and perform like that and it's a really poor show.. finish the game like that with 10 men and you should really do enough to see the game out but finish with 9 men and you can say we were unfortunate.

however.. both goals are poor to concede. the wall should do it's job for the first and Staunton should clear his lines for the second. in terms of the red cards; AO'C should have dealt with the first ball and for the second PO'C should be nowhere near that incident and gave the ref a decision to make. ill discipline and poor concentration for both the O'Connors in those situations.

when looking at the match as a whole - the performance was poor overall. like the first few games, we created little and had no control of the game. our shape led to square pegs in round holes and playing two centre-half at full-back reduced our width and ability to get balls into the box for the forwards. it's no good having one of the better deliverers of a ball from wide in the league playing a CDM role - players at this level need to play in their natural positions or they are quite clearly like ducks out of water.

our ball retention was poor and we were too easy to play through. FGR, for how poor they were going forward always looked like they could trouble us on the break whereas our tactics seemed to be to stick it in the corner, turn their defence and play from there; hence one shot in the first. we very rarely troubled them and in all honesty both of our goals were poor to concede from a defensive point of view. apart from those two and the PO'C header in the first half, we never troubled the goalkeeper.

a lot still to be improved on if we want to do anything this season. depth to the squad is clearly a necessity - let's see what the iPad throws up the week.

 

How much do the probable suspensions balls up our recruitment now?

Money earmarked for right back and centre forward are now likely going on a centre half. I suppose that will be another excuse for another player not coming in.

Am i right in thinking that any loan has to be window to window now? Dont think we can just bring in a centre half for a month

Doing something right is stretching it bronco. Both times we went in front were flukes. We created absolutely nothing again. The goals were our only shots on target from memory if you can describe them as shots.

 

It was a routine shot at goal that the keeper catches 99 times out of a hundred. If we're trying to credit the goal for the shot and not the mistake then I'm more worried than I was before.

 

Every reason in the book has been given why we should not have got anything from the game yet you look at their goals the first being a shocking piece of defending mainly by Clarke moving to his left before the shot is delivered, if you join the wall you don't break as Clarke did.
Their lad took a right smack in the head from a City free kick but did his job.

 

I've watched it several times now. If Paudie had headbutted the lad in the face he would have gone straight over the hoarding backwards. But he managed to turn round first then dive over the hoarding forwards. Diving, cheating b*****d.

Mind you the ref may not have spotted it from his angle. And Paudie you were a silly boy. I would appeal that though.

Think the point of Novak dropping back to ch was justified. Moving an experienced player to the back and not wasting another sub when it was obvious we were not going gung ho up front with 9 men

I've tolerated him up until yesterday. His chanting of "Barmy Army" (when actually, isn't it "Bradford Army"?) was annoying, and his lack of keeping up with the game, and getting stuff, wrong finally grinded on me. It's great having someone who is passionate about the club, and added props for being an ex pro, but when you turn into a "fan" on the radio when you are meant to be commentating, then that's when you need someone more professional.

 

He didn’t look fit. But to be fair to him, he was also playing in a position he shouldn’t have been, and in a system that was never going to help him.
