Never smart going 5 at the back so early. We completely gave up the game. Although Novak should have won it.

Conolly upfront worked wonders in mid week. Should have done the same again.

I kknow conditions aren’t great but I can’t understand why we are doing the high ball every time instead of keeping the ball on the ground where it’s easier to control.
Just losing possession so easily this half instead of trying to keep the ball

 

Did Bowyer come back? Five at the backin the 66th minute.

If Bowyer was in charge we would be ripping him apart for being so defensive so early in a game.

 

Ffs we've basically stopped playing.

Three at the back was silly. Just change Akpan and Middleton. They were no threat in the first half because WE were threatening them. Then we stopped. Went far too defensive.

 

5 at the back in the 66th minute. My god. If you let them have target practice for 34 mins then you can expect them to score. Ridiculous.

 

One thing's for certain Stu will be learning more each game about his players.Whether he can plug the gaps will be his biggest challenge I think.

 

Novak had to score at 1-0 when Connolly broke thru around 70 mins.
Reeves is a class above the rest of them, but needs someone even just half decent alongside him to break play up.
Paudie is shit.
Think that could be the final straw in promotion push this year.

 

Let's be fair the extra defender would have been on the pitch before we kicked off under Bowyer. Watched the second half and it is definitely Stuart's fault that we didn't play the ball on the floor. On the plus side I saw some battle there today. We were rubbish on Tuesday and won. Before we all start Moaning let's give the team a chance to turn it round.

 

I don't think anyone is criticising the team. Wrong management decisions today cost us the game.

 

Agreed, it’s simple really we were winning the game and although they improved second half they were not as close to our goal as the were once we brought another CB on. If we’d held out then it’d be fair to praise him for the subs helping us get 3 points, so it’s fair to criticise if they cost us the game as well.

 

Bang on that, i want McCall to tell me why he went to 5 at the back? Or has he not actually been following us this season like he alluded to?

Agree. I was there. It was bloody awful but pretty much equally as bad both halves.

 

Thought we played well in the first half but not well enough, we should have scored more because clearly we had the better of the conditions in the first half. I also thought Stuart tactically got it wrong, going 5 at the back so late on was a bad mistake. Our players are not good enough to play, it is as simple as that. Akpan what can I say, we actually play with 10 men with him in the side. We really needed a strong midfield today ,not get hold of that ball and pass it, taking out the weather problem. The other problem was we and probably related to our weak midfield we started to kick the long ball, without any control over where the ball went.


Disappointed to lose, but at least we have started to attack away from home. I know Stuart hasn’t had hardly any time to assess each player, but maybe this week they can find time to look at them on video and training.
Plus very poor officials.

 

A bit early to be judging him yet . Time to get it right still don’t think he is the right appointment but hope he proves me wrong.

McCrap making excuses, he actually said he thought the game shouldn't have gone ahead, the commentary team making excuses...... and on and on.

We have played two bottom half teams and the absolute bottom team and we have a win, a draw and a defeat.

Where is the new manager bounce...Cambridge got one.

Finally....had Bowyer gone to five at the back on 66 minutes when one nil up and then lost 2-1 this forum would be in melt down and the 'Sack the Manager' posts would be ticking over like the FTSE sell orders on Black Monday!

But as an earlier poster said we will talk tiptoe round and round and round one of the major reasons for the defeat...tactical naivety and poor team selection.

 

Stuart is right it’s what we didn’t do in the first half when we had the weather with us that lost us today’s game.
However reading this thread some of the same people on here call calling for mass clear outs and the like we’re saying all season that we had a team who should “Piss this league “ funny what a change of manager does for people’s opinion
