    Ah well. Another game off and this is without a covid interruption which seems more and more likely to happen. I suppose we can play longer into the summer if they extend the season?

    Probably right. Gives them chance to miss a game and get some more players in and play it later in the season.

    There should be minimum standards set for the type of cover and protection on a pitch.

    Nope the season can't be extended. Currently the season ends two weeks before the EUROS. Even if clubs don't have players at the EUROS UEFA don't allow domestic competitions to take place at the same time and they would also want those two weeks for quarenteen. The euros finish mid July, the season then couldn't resume until August as they would need them to quarenteen again which would mean delaying the next season. It would also have to delay the PL even if they get finished as promotion and relocation would need decidec

    The TV deals also require the season ends by July 1st or the club's owe the TV companies worldwide penalty fees.

    Also remember the 2022/23 season has a world cup in the middle of the season due to FIFA corruption giving it to a country that can't host it in the summer and the plan is that most leagues will start early which will be tough if the 21/22 season starts late

    Who gives a stitch about the Euros.

    There won't be crowds, which surely is the whole point of international football, and it's a secondary international tournament anyway.

    Cancel that rubbish. Couldn't care less.
    Make the decision now, and focus on ensuring that the basis of ALL football - the domestic professional leagues - are best equipped to survive.

    UEFA won't cancel it again unless we are seeing the other major nations having issues completing their season as well, the TV deals are just worth too much as cancelling now would be a cancellation not a postponement

    Scunthorpe United have always been tin pot.
    They play Salford at home on Tuesday night obviously they will be praying for a tropical heat wave before then.
    This game should have been called off yesterday and they know it.

    You have to wonder about the pitch being covered, questions need to be asked surely a club like Scunthorpe would have pitch covers, did they want the game called off ?.

    There is a decent chance but even then they may just pull rank and threaten kicking nations out of WC qualification and/or clubs out of European club competitions if the value of the TV deals are big enough and they feel the nation's fa's won't have a choice but back down (the amount of lost revenue getting kicked out of those may see any help the fa and pl give lower down to be cut)
