To be fair none of our centre backs are quick, maybe Staunton but i've not seen enough of him.

Why ? You score in an abandoned match, its chalked off, so why does a yellow count ? Genuine question

Instead of having to scroll back aand find it, it is bizarre. Nothing counts as that fixture. So why a booking?

Im not sure tbh but I suppose it's an event that has occurred and would be right to uphold? Irrespective of the game finishing or not, the offence occurred and the decision of the referee, has no relation to an abandoned game?
If a player was sent off (for example) for headbutting, you would expect the offence to stand. I'm playing Devils advocate but how do you differentiate between offence, colour of card? What if an 'serious' offence occurs, say the ref misses, you would expect it to be reviewed and punished retrospectively....

Whereas the match result, no matter the situation (like Swindon away in 88 discussed elsewhere) cannot be definitely guaranteed.

    Guesswork on my part

Just noticed Oxford moved their game to sunday.
Begs the question why not other teams?
Saturday is still cold but sunday should improve to approx 4 degrees.

And Salford only 45/60 minutes away it would make sense.

Hopefully we get a win a here, but if we struggle shows how essential Cooke is to the squad.

Would love some depth in summer.

I predict a win and a massive overreaction that we can get in the play offs, T&S are tactical geniuses and that Rowe is the second coming.

    Oh and no snow storm.

I've a bad feeling about this game compared to a more optimistic one when the game was called off. We were second best for most of the few minutes we played and if we start in the same way again, we'll be playing on the back foot again.

I think we need to look into bringing in full backs who offer more than we currently have. Wood & O'connor considerably limit our attacking intent and when you compare against Meredith and Darby, they're as opposite as night and day.

with the fact that Wood and O’Connor contracts are up in the summer, these positions will be filled in the next transfer window.

Meredith was a more attacking full back, however my recollection was that Darby was very defensive and rarely crossed the midway line. I maybe wrong, but I recall very few assist/crosses. He was very good at what he did, but was not a wing back sort of defender.

I agree he wasn't the bomb forward type of defender but seemed to get forward more than we're seeing at the moment and was a very good defender to boot. Their right back on Saturday was constantly getting forward. Maybe we miss an Hosannah type player taking the game to the opposition. It's certainly an area that needs attention and may explain why Wood and AOC haven't been offered the new contracts (that we know of) just yet.

Agreed. Darby was an excellent defender but offered very little going forward. AOC by contrast does get forward often but his delivery isn't the best which is probably expected of a centre back by trade.

He does pop up with the odd goal here and there though whereas I can only remember Darby ever scoring once. I may be wrong though, my memory isn't the best.
