To get beat by our own stupidity is a tough one to take. That, for 75 mins was probably the most comfortable we’ve been in a long time. What Cook was doing back there for the free kick is anybody’s guess and as for Sutton, I can only put that down to exhaustion. He just wasn’t thinking right.
    Reset and go again.

Trouble is that’s all we do sit on leads, against Walsall we got away with it as the ref turned a pen down then against Mansfield they missed an absolute sitter at the end. Eventually it’ll catch up with you. Hopefully it’s just tiredness and the week off does us good.

Harsh RT seeing as at 83 mins or so we were walking this game. Anyway we lost so lets go again and redouble our efforts over the coming weeks to get that coveted 7th place which we can get to.

Cooke was clearly fatigued and needed the rest-as the management team clearly alluded to. He should be a much bigger influence on games from now on.

You conveniently ignored the fact that for at least 83 mins we were ahead away from home. Solid in defense and keeping them from any decent shots on target. Cooke being on the pitch would not have stopped Dolan scoring or Sutton stupidly raising his arm to give the pen away.

The defensive and pragmatic approach taken by T&S makes a lot of sense and you can’t argue with the results we’ve had. But we need to be better with the ball. Top 3 has to be the aim next season and to achieve that, we need to impose ourselves on the game and create more. The only 2 real chances we had tonight were both presented to us by the opposition giving the ball away outside their own box.

Difficult not to come on here and sound off about a stupid free kick and a blatant pen we absolutely handed that to them on a plate but all things considered we were never going to go unbeaten. Sutton and Cook have been decent for us. Cook gives away the free kick to stop a shooting opportunity and Sutton well probs just a rush of blood and a bad decision in the hopes of not conceding late no need to hang them out to dry. Paudie was very lucky not to give away a pen as well. Hopefully this annoys them and they come out fighting Saturday.

Newport played this like an away game as the useless commentators kept telling us they kept everybody behind the ball and they offered nothing going forward until they got the lucky break.
They have been in the top six all season and yet they set up to stop us rather than having a go. An unfortunate loss tonight but we are still in a decent position and if we are to reach the play offs I don’t care if we get there in the last match of the season

And yet were asking how do we accommodate the likes of Rowe or Novak if he comes back, as you say we had plenty of the ball without looking dangerous, we only worked Townsend the 3 times, the save from Woods block buster was a good save pushing it onto the bar but as you say we don't create enough.

The test for T & S is how we improve in the final 3rd whilst remaining solid at the back. At the moment Rowe is odd one out for me. The old "can't live with him, can't live without" springs to mind. A luxury player who can pop up with moments of brilliance but appears to offer little on the whole. How do we get the most from him? Is it playing him up top as part of a 2 or having him as an impact sub when defences get tired?

This is the real dilemma. For all his spectacular goals he doesn't seem to fit our current system and it's hard to imagine one in which he would fit. In an effort to accommodate him we risk disrupting our whole team pattern. It's him or Cook up top for me and, to be honest, despite the goals they've scored recently I'm not too impressed with either of them in that role. Novak might be a better bet if he ever gets fit.

    Free flowing...?

I thought we had 20 mins or so in the 2nd half where we looked comfortable, had plenty of possession in their half, but didn't create much. I wouldn't say we were free flowing. And the best player on the pitch was Matty Dolan.

What had a stupid free kick and an even more stupid pen, both given away by a up field player got , remotely anything to do with the back four. The back four did their job and they should be the ones who feel most aggrieved.

Even mild dehydration is known to cause muddled thinking, issues with concentration and decision making, this isn't me saying he was dehydrated, but that it is a potential effect of it.

To put it into some perspective, both the games we lost were due to penalty decisions. Cut those out and we would have been in an even better place!

Most people repeating what Kiwomya says would end up looking like Darren Slingsby aka WDM. The man talks gibberish for a living, however on that point at least, he does have a very valid claim. As I watched on ifollow and didn't hear him, I can only assume that he did actually manage to say it coherently and the words in the right order.

Or was it more of a playering need watery breaks for rehydehyrdating or they will be comfusing and headering the ballthing

Tell Flynny he can bring his team to play the reverse fixture at Valley Parade, there is little matter of a 3-0 defeat to rectify.

So you'll be playing Newport at 'home' in Cardiff. They're on a miserable run of form so hoping that your match and the match with Leyton Orient will give time for their field of mud to turn into an Eden of a bowling green. It's a tricky one. Any fan would want their team to play on a decent surface for a variety of reasons (style, safety, quality etc) but if it ends up giving them play off/promotion hopes by winning those matches then something doesn't seem quite right. And yes, hosting 2 rugby clubs can hardly help the playing surface. Hope you stuff them...!

We’ve looked very tired lately imo, think a few changes are needed even though I don’t like to change a team going well but it could end up being counterproductive not to. That free week can’t come soon enough.

Have a listen to Wood's post match interview. He says he is fine, doesn't need a rest and wants to play every game.
