12th drew with 13th. Newport aren’t the same side they were under Flynn. They’re worse. We took a point.Absolutely that is a positive. To be frank we were so lucky and our play was aimless. We can’t keep the ball in midfield. Watt has badly regressed. Gilleard offered little. He Can block crosses on halfway. Offered Nothing creative though.
Adams brought in to get us up. I can’t currently see his plan. Under Parky it might have been dull but you could see the strategy. I haven’t a clue what Adams is about.

 

Robinson is one of the strangest players I've seen. Today was the third time I've seen him come off the bench, nearly score with his first touch and then go missing for the rest of the game.

 

We must be watching different players I'm afraid.

 

Eh? I'm obviously missing something here. You suggest Robinson doesn’t look the type to roll his sleeves up. I say from what I saw yesterday there was no lack of effort or determination from him. I'm not looking for an argument just don't know what you are on about??

 

Paudie is 1 booking away from suspension so that might answer short term conundrum

 

Someone being critical about a player ain’t a thickie . Its called having an opinion, call-out bullshit but calling names you wouldn’t do on the street, so why do it on here?

 

Watt has been very weak this season and quite a lot of last. Losing possession by trying long diagonals is one thing, but his short passing has been third rate as well. FCD back to replace Threlkeld and Sutton & Songo'o defensive midfield for me once Canavan is back.

 

Playing the lone role up front is soul destroying, unless you have the right attributes. Otherwise it certainly exposes a player's flaws. It'll be interesting what happens when Angol returns.

Going down memory lane, we haven't had a centre forward for years who would compare with the likes of McCole, Stokes, Green, Layne, Aimson, and Ingram. They were all lower league talent that produced the goods consistently, athough it helped they figured in a formation that played to their strengths. We'd sell one and have no difficulty in finding another effective replacement. All in stark contrast to this year's close season recruitment!!

 

I never said it was. Cooke is the highest provider of key passes li league 2 by some distance, not his fault the front line can't take advantage of that.

 

I think we have some players who are good enough but they're mostly down the spine of the team for example Cook Cooke O'Connor Canavan I don't think that's enough though to get promoted

For Cooke I think the wingers really need to start taking their chances and soon it's very frustrating at times watching Vernam miss the target 9 times out of 10 and Gilliead playing like a neat and tidy player in a position that should be providing a lot of danger for the opposition not just possession retention

There's definitely something to this squad but until we get competition back up front and can bring Songo'o into midfield I don't think we'll click just yet

One more goal at home to Walsall and we would be 3rd now, it's that close..

 

My second away game this season hopefully won’t be disappointed, Mansfield was the first and it turned out to be a good game to watch particularly after Vernham put the winner in, in front of City supporters, my prediction 2-1 to City, having said that I have known to be wrong on lots of occasions hopefully I have this one right.

entertaining game so far, living a bit dangerous at times but matching them for the most part. cook and gilliead both poor for me, cook needs to be gambling on those balls in the box more and gilliead needs to actually have a shot or he'll stay on one goal all season.
