I suspect that Bowyer doesn't see it like that at all.
Just like Parky and many other managers before them, I think his mentality is to get the defence sorted out first, keep things as tight as possible and prioritise not leaking goals, particularly after last year's defensive shambles.
He's said several times that he thinks it will take two or three transfer windows to get the squad how he wants it. I think he's happy to pack bodies into central midfield to protect the defence, at the expense of width and creativity and hope to nick 1-0 wins whenever possible, until he can get better players in.

As fans we want to see exciting attacking play, wingers bombing on and getting regular crosses in, and goals galore. We also want to see immediate promotion back to L1. I'm not sure that Bowyer sees it that way at all. I suspect he's playing a longer game, rightly or wrongly.

We’d have just made like for like subs and then brought in a left-back to shore us up...!

The subs in that opening game were a disgrace from Bowyer

Thankfully, Doyle Vs McCartan for a spot in a two man strike force won't happen without an injury to Donaldson or Vaughan.

Let's all pray that doesn't happen!

No, I get that and I fully agree.

But I’m not referring to the calls for McCartan to play the role instead of Doyle. I’m referring specifically to the claims that some call Doyle useless (not just ‘at the tip of the diamond’), but want us to give Shay a run because ‘he scored goals for Champions Lincoln’.

Regarding Doyle..... Didn't he fail a medical somewhere? It makes me wonder if whatever the issue was is affecting him, I don't know what he offers. Wouldn't suprise me if Edin ignored any warnings about a medical and blew a large portion of the budget in an effort to appease some fans with a big name signing.

Would say the same as @Birky Bantam@Birky Bantam, it’s to the right rather than down the middle, Donaldson doesn’t have control of the ball and there might be doubt in the ref’s mind that Donaldson would have got to the ball first given it several yards ahead (though I think, looking at the video, he would have done).

Personally think this was a borderline one that I’m not sure VAR would have gotten involved with - given it’s a subjective decision (in this instance) as to whether all the conditions for a red card were met as opposed to missing a handball on the line.

The fact it was early in the game may have been a factor (it really shouldn’t be, I’ve seen very early reds numerous times in games), though I think that’s ignoring the other factors that will have caused the ref to think yellow rather than red.

Yes very similar the Beevers incident was well outside the box, when Beevers pulled Hanson back Öhman's was the same in my book.

Sorry Dimitry I can’t help with that, but we need a Gary Jones type if that helps, if you see a likely candidate, contact the club, they will relay info to GB.

@gbowyer22 is his Twitter handle. He hasn’t got a blue tick but professionals have interacted with the account so think it is genuine!
